Alan Patricof, tech investor and major Democratic donor, told CNBC on Friday he’s staying with Joe Biden — but said the former vice president must “show his stuff” in the next two nominating contests to reinvigorate his run for the presidency.
“It’s critical” that Biden wins South Carolina and “he’s got to produce in Nevada,” said Patricof, founder and managing director of the Greycrof venture capital firm. “He’s said it. Donors feel it. Everybody is sticking with Joe until they see what happens there.”
Nevada holds caucuses on Feb. 22, followed by South Carolina’s primary on Feb. 29, just days before Super Tuesday on March 3, when a third of the delegates are up for grabs in 16 nominating primaries and caucuses.
A day after two major Biden fundraisers in New York, Patricof said on “Squawk Box” that attendance at the events indicted support remains strong.
The rooms “were packed,” said Patricof. Biden rallied more than 250 Wall Street and big money donors Thursday, in hopes keeping support after stumbles in Iowa and New Hampshire.
“It could have felt like a friendly funeral — but it didn’t,” another donor told CNBC in a brief interview as she exited one of the fundraisers….
Biden IS STILL holding on to his black voter support….

In Florida,the St.Petes Poll shows him essentially in a tie with Mike Bloomberg.

A second in Nevada and a First in SC would probably lock things in Biden/Sanders going into Super Tuesday…..
A win in Nev and SC for Biden puts him in the lead…..
It will also put him as the #1 contender for the Welterweight Belt, mandating a title shot…

The S.C. Primary is two weeks from tomorrow.Thats an eternity as things are now shifting daily.He is no longer guaranteed a huge vote.Even a victory here may be by a narrow margin.

I think Warren is about out of it too, but I would put Sanders, Warren, Bloomberg, Buttigieg and Klobuchar *all* ahead of Biden in likelihood of being the nominee at this point.
Politics is very different than sports. You don’t get to go into each new contest with a clean slate. The bottom line is that Joe Biden has tried to be a Presidential contender over a period of many decades now and has simply not shown the ability to succeed at that level.
Only Bloomberg and Sanders have serious chances I feel…
The others won’t make it after Super Tuesday….
Celebrity multiplies fast in your party. Buttigieg and Klobuchar have gotten off to a very good start with the voting. People like the idea of them as “electable.” Things could all fall in one of their directions very quickly… but yes, if there was ever a time for a “brokered” convention, it may be now.

Facts are facts. Buttigieg (especially) and now Klobuchar (at least after an impressive showing in one state) are better at running for President than Biden is currently.

The days of a truly “brokered” convention are long past.
There’s no one who can “deliver” whole delegations as in the past.
The way the rules work(at least presently) are that after the ininitial ballot the “superdelegates” can vote.
Those votes would Likely determine the nominee.

Trump was *vastly* outspent last time and won.
Bloomberg is prepared seemingly to outspend anyone. Considering all the weaknesses that Democrats have, it may be needed.
I would hope and expect Bloomberg would make some sort of “one term only” pledge and that he is running to oust Trump first and foremost, would do his duty as President, and then step aside for a new generation. Biden would have been better off making that pledge when he had the chance too.

A lot of the independent support for Trump was among voters who wanted a one term President I believe. The Republicans that make up Trump’s base on the other hand want him to be reelected and then either serve a third term or elect Don Jr.
It’s not just money. Tom Steyer has a ton of it too and other than making a wave in South Carolina he is an afterthought

The Bay State votes (together with California, Texas, et al.) on Super Tuesday, March 3rd, but Rhode Island’s presidential primary (together with most of the other coastal states between Narragansett and Chesapeake Bays*) is not until about eight weeks later, on April 28th. Some of the Providence TV spillover reaches Eastern Connecticut, which votes on the same day as Rhode Island.
