Hmmmm?
REALLY?
Should we believe this?
From a guy who IS a serial liar….
President Donald Trump said he would vote for a gay presidential candidate, a question revived by the success of former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s White House bid.
In a wide-ranging interview on Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera’s podcast, the president also said he thinks it’s possible that American voters could one day elect a gay candidate to the White House.
“I think so. I think there would be some that wouldn’t, and I wouldn’t be among that group to be honest with you,” Trump told Rivera, pointing to Buttigieg’s top-two finishes in both of the first two Democratic presidential contests….
But we have THIS ramping up in the background….
“They’re sitting there and they’re looking at Mayor Pete — a 37-year-old gay guy, mayor of South Bend, loves to kiss his husband on the debate stage. And they’re saying, okay, how’s this going to look, a 37-year-old gay guy kissing his husband onstage next to Mr. Man Donald Trump? What’s going to happen there?” Limbaugh said. (Buttigieg is 38.)
The episode abruptly injected the topic into the political discussion after months when it had a lower profile. And it underlines a notable feature of Buttigieg’s rise: An openly gay, married candidate has never gotten so far in the presidential arena, and it’s not clear how some voters will react.
The episode is a window into what Buttigieg could face if he becomes the Democratic nominee. Buttigieg did not publicly address Limbaugh’s remarks, but his surrogates and supporters pushed back.
Elliot Imse, spokesman for the Victory Fund, which supports LGBTQ candidates, said it’s clear the Trump camp would “use homophobia to try and define who Mayor Pete is as a person and as a candidate.” He added, “That will likely backfire with most of America if we are able to expose the homophobia for what it is and refocus quickly on who Pete is as a candidate.”….

No reason to think this would not be true, assuming it is a Trump like person. His mentor was Roy Cohn and all.

Trump would vote for a Martian if he perceived it was in his financial interest to do so

I think that this is one of those situation where Trump steps very gingerly just over the line, only to be sharply recalled by his Base and his base’s allies.
Remember the tentative steps towards some kind of understanding with the Congressional Democrats that he took towards controlling gun violence and reforming immigration, only to be violently yanked back by the NRA and the anti-immigration apparatus (FAIR, NumbersUSA, etc.) and renege on his understanding only one or two days later.
Trump made a specific pitch to LGBTQ voters in 2016, even forcing his fans to cheer them, so I think that that may very well be his true feeling. But it took very little time for him, to appease his Evangelical & conservative Catholic base, to institute all those bans on LGBTQ service members. (As Stephen Colbert asked, “what does he think the T in LGBTQ stands for ?)
