The week starts off with a mess in the Iowa Democratic caucus….
AP won’t call a winner…
But it WAS Pete Buttigieg…..
The loser was Joe Biden….
After a flawed Iowa caucus process, the Senate acquittal of President Trump, and adramatic State of the Union address — all in the past five days — Friday night brings the eighth Democratic presidential debate.
Of the 11 candidates still running for president, only seven will take the debate stage in Manchester, N.H., tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
The debate comes a day after all the results finally came in from Iowa, but The Associated Press announced it was unable to officially declare a winner. That leaves a virtual tie in place between former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders — with Buttigieg leading by 0.1% percent and Sanders holding more of the popular vote.
The delayed results dominated a sizable portion of the candidates’ week leading up to Friday’s debate — and unlike in previous election cycles where the winner of the Iowa caucuses takes the winning momentum into New Hampshire, the delays this year created an unprecedented feeling of collective victory among several major candidates.
Sen. Bernie Sanders in particular heads into the New Hampshire debate as a solid front-runner, fresh off a strong but delayed Iowa-finish, $25 million raised in January alone, and a sizable lead in the Granite State poll.

Specifically — according to the RealClearPolitics average — Sanders tops New Hampshire polls at 26%, followed by former Vice President Joe Biden (18%), former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg (16%), and Mass. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (14%.)…

I watched much, but not all of the debate. I did not watch the feedback. I thought that the candidates were strong; their answers were focused; they are getting better at debates. Buttigieg did get some tough questions – and he suffered some damage. I thought that Sanders was strong, and he “looked” like the front runner. I thought Klobuchar was better than she had been – and she probably helped herself. Steyer came across as a lightweight; he didn’t get to talk much, but when he did, he didn’t say anything of substance. I didn’t pay attention to Yang – why is he on the stage? Biden came out more aggressive, which was a different look for him. It is tough to change ones style at this stage- and it may have come across to some as Disingenuous. He spoke faster – which might have helped. In the aggregate, it was probably a mixed performance. Warren’s answers were crisp- as always. I would have liked to see her more relaxed.
So that is my perspective from seeing some, But not all of the debate.

I have commented on twitter that it appears that Nate Cohen and Silver appear to be in the bag for Bernie Sanders….
And for some of us?
They have lost their objectivity …
My Name Is Jack says
I don’t see where they have lost their objectivity.
They are metrics guys and in presidential campaigns these things change very rapidly after each primary.
There’s nothing surprising here.Im not a particular fan of someone literally trying to predict the delegate count at the convention myself but that’s their shtick,
The fact is though that as long as they were predicting a massive runaway victory for Biden(which they were a scant two weeks ago!) you were fine with them.
Now that they are predicting a similar outcome for Sanders you’re complaining about “objectivity?”
You’re as transparent as a glass pane!

They are foaming at the mouth in the early states with the KNOWLEDGE that Both will have problems going into the states after next Tuesday….
I understand them concentrated on these early races ….
But to discount the ‘long game’ is simply not right….

Jack?
I’m biased here towards Biden
We know that
The Nate’s are human
They should just put that out there.
