Ready to skip 2020 and go straight to 2024? In a SurveyMonkey poll for Axios, Republican voters chose children of President Trump — Don Jr. and Ivanka — as two of the top four picks for president in four years.
- Why it matters: An early poll like this is largely a measure of name ID. But it’s also a vivid illustration of just how strong Trump’s brand is with the GOP.

As for James’ last remark, conviction (in this case at this time highly unlikely) after impeachment carries the possible additional penalty of disqualification from any other Federal civil or military office.
Lose impeachment and you might as well kiss a 2024 comeback good-bye.
The only President to serve a non-consecutive term is Grover Cleveland (D) who did run after his first term and won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College to Benjamin Harrison (R) in 1888. He won his third straight popular vote plurality in 1892 (which also saw a significant Populist vote for James B. Weaver) as well as the Electoral College.
Other ex-Presidents have competed without success on third-party lines: Martin Van Buren (1837-41) on the 1848 Free Soil ticket, Millard Fillmore (1850-53) on the American Party/Whig line in 1856 and Theodore Roosevelt (1901-09) as a Progressive in 1912. None since then. [Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, FDR, Truman, Ike, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, GHW Bush, W. Clinton, GW Bush]

But once again, James. youˆre missing the forest for the trees.
If both you and CG are as bitterly opposed as the rest of us to Donald Trump, why will neither of you categorically declare your intention to support the only person who can defeat Donald Trump: the Democratic presidential nominee whoever that might be?
Is Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Andrew Yang, Pete Buttigieg, Tom Steyer or Amy Klobuchar somehow as bad overall as (if not worse)than) Donald Trump ?
If so, why?

I never said i wouldn’t change my mind…
I gave the Clinton Obama example….
Attempts to have me make second choices are not gonna work ….
My felling is Joe Biden IS the best Democrat to unseat Trump….
jamesb says
I’d say that most , if not ALL OF THE Democrats would be better that Trump…
Factually?
The nomination race is between Biden and Sanders…
Truthfully?
Sanders as President scares me almost as Trump….

There will be a GOP free-for-all if DJT don’t make the cut next year….

If Trump Wins, Brace Yourself for Don Jr. In 2024
Rick Wilson: “Get ready for Donald Trump Jr., a man who speaks the fluent asshole dialogue of the own-the-libs Trump Party, to rise to the top of the 2024 GOP primary ranks. The dynastic talk that was once treated as a joke (even by me) is already growing around both Don Jr. and Ivanka. Poor Eric is left out, but then again, he always has been.”
“The Trump family—including the creepy automaton Jared Kushner—will continue to view the American government not as a sacred trust but as an ATM for their crapulous enterprises and nation-state-level grifting. While Kushner’s ambitions don’t appear to be especially political, his exploitation of his high office as Grand Vizier to Emir Donald has been spectacularly profitable for his companies. As for Trump personally, his hotels, golf courses, and clubs were miraculously both popular and profitable for unknown reasons. (Pardon me while I recover from that epic eye-roll.)”
