This fits with Trump’s disapproval/approval numbers….
Donald J. Trump has less than a majority of America supporting him…
A majority evidently think he’s a crook ….
Ba higher margin they would find Trump guilty of the specific US House charges….
Absent the electoral college Republic thing?
Or…
A Majority US Senate for his Republican Party?
He’d be out of luck…
About half of Americans say the Senate should vote to convict President Donald Trumpand remove him from office in the upcoming impeachment trial (51%), according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, while 45% say the Senate should vote against conviction and removal.
The impeachment process hasn’t had a significant effect on Trump’s approval rating and he’s enjoying some of the highest of his term as commander in chief, though his job approval ratings still fall below the historical average for other recent presidents….

Trump’s legal team is essentially arguing that the president cannot be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” excusing almost all abuses of power.
This is the kind of legal reasoning you’d expect from an authoritarian, but yet here we are.

Of course Trump’s support among Republicans WILL hold and might even climb…
He’s under political attack…
He maybe a crook…
But he’s THEIR crook…
BTW?
The number of people who actually BELIEVE he committed the illegal actions IS closer to 60%…
