Yes folks…
You read the above right….
Another group of conservatives want the Republican President, Donald J. Trump moved from office….
Fore those who knock me for blogging this ?
Wait…
There ARE gonna be MORE of this political bleeding off of Trump’s supposed supporters….
In our founding documents, Billy Graham explains that Christianity Today will help evangelical Christians interpret the news in a manner that reflects their faith. The impeachment of Donald Trump is a significant event in the story of our republic. It requires comment.
The typical CT approach is to stay above the fray and allow Christians with different political convictions to make their arguments in the public square, to encourage all to pursue justice according to their convictions and treat their political opposition as charitably as possible. We want CT to be a place that welcomes Christians from across the political spectrum, and reminds everyone that politics is not the end and purpose of our being. We take pride in the fact, for instance, that politics does not dominate our homepage.
That said, we do feel it necessary from time to time to make our own opinions on political matters clear—always, as Graham encouraged us, doing so with both conviction and love. We love and pray for our president, as we love and pray for leaders (as well as ordinary citizens) on both sides of the political aisle.
Let’s grant this to the president: The Democrats have had it out for him from day one, and therefore nearly everything they do is under a cloud of partisan suspicion. This has led many to suspect not only motives but facts in these recent impeachment hearings. And, no, Mr. Trump did not have a serious opportunity to offer his side of the story in the House hearings on impeachment.
But the facts in this instance are unambiguous: The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents. That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.
The reason many are not shocked about this is that this president has dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration. He has hired and fired a number of people who are now convicted criminals. He himself has admitted to immoral actions in business and his relationship with women, about which he remains proud. His Twitter feed alone—with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders—is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused….
Update…
As expected….
Dissing Donald Trump automatically earns you a hard pushback….
President Trump went after Christianity Today in a series of tweets after it published an editorial calling or his removal from office.
Said Trump: “A far left magazine, or very ‘progressive,’ as some would call it, which has been doing poorly and hasn’t been involved with the Billy Graham family for many years, Christianity Today, knows nothing about reading a perfect transcript of a routine phone call and would rather … have a Radical Left nonbeliever, who wants to take your religion and your guns, than Donald Trump as your President.”…

Christianity Today is not a farleft magazine as the Liar said
However, neither is it conservative.
It describes itself as”centrist “ and non political. It rarely involves itself in politics.
It’s editorial does not prove that “conservatives” are turning “on Trump, a common ,yet unproven ,refrain of James.
While being conservative theologically ,the magazine has been fairly non partisan politically and is certainly in no way part of the “Christian Right.”

The founder, Billy Graham, stated that he wanted to “plant the evangelical flag in the middle-of-the-road, taking the conservative theological position but a definite liberal approach to social problems”.

Jack?
As u would counter ur own comment?
Donald Trump just about OWNS Evangelical Christians , Right?
Hmmmm?
‘On Election Day, close to 81 percent of white evangelicals cast their ballots for him, turning out to vote in greater numbers than they had for Mitt Romney and George W. Bush. And their faithfulness paid off.’…
…
Today, 82 percent of white evangelicals would cast their ballots for Trump. Two-thirds believe that he has not damaged the decency of the presidency, 55 percent agree with Sarah Huckabee Sanders that “God wanted him to be president,” and 99 percent oppose impeachment.

Jack?
You might want to read the linked piece …
I’m sure it won’t be news rot you because you KNOW that Evangelical Christians for the most part, including the ones that follow Christianity Today ARE Trump supporters , no matter what the editorial board wrote…
Those Trump supporters ARE CONSERVATIVE’s….
PERIOD…
I know you like to counter what I write most of the time…
But on this?
You KNOW better….
jamesb says
Or maybe this one Jack?
“He’s our only choice,” she said.
In 2016, Trump’s alliance with white evangelical voters was obvious — 80 percent of white, self-identified born-again or evangelical Christians supported him, according to exit polls — but, for some of those voters, it was also uneasy. The president’s personal behavior and some of his core political beliefs, including his hostility toward refugees, seem at odds with the major moral tenets of Christianity. What’s more, many of his evangelical supporters weren’t exactly sure what they were getting from a nominee who was neither deeply religious nor a lifelong Republican and who described himself some years ago as “very pro-choice.”..

Do you understand that it was the “editorial board” that called for Trumps Impeachment.
You are in effect making my point.
As you say these people don’t care what the “editorial board” says ,yet you were using this editorial to “prove” that Evangelicals are turning against Trump.,” another group of conservatives…”
Do you understand this?
Keith says
No dam has broken, as I said earlier, this magazine said the same thing about Nixon and Clinton (even though the magazine founder is on tape agreeing with Nixon’s anti-Semitic rhetoric).
They believe in the rule of law while the vast majority of evangelicals believe in Trump, the Great White Hope!
My Name Is Jack says
Yes ,so do you understand that just because someone has conservative theological positions does not mean that they have conservative political positions?
In the above that you quote, their social positions would be more identified with Liberals than conservatives.
Further Billy Graham’s son, Franklin, a real Christian Rightist, says that his father wouldn’t support Trumps impeachment ,nor does he.Franklin has been known to declare that Trump was sent by God to do what he is doing.
When these types turn on Trump then maybe you can have something to talk about. However, this editorial by CT while of interest ,indicates nothing politically as they have never indicated their support of Trump previously.
jamesb says
Wait?
Is this the same Jack that says Trump’s owns conservatives, of ALL stripes , and now is saying he doesn’t???
REALLY???
jamesb says
So YOU ARE admitting that these Christians ARE CONSERVATIVE after all?????
Gotcha!
My Name Is Jack says
Gotcha what?
Please read my original post which was directed at your assertion that the editorial showed that “another group of conservatives “ was turning against Trump.
Then, incongruously you state that these people don’t care what the “editorial board” thinks.
You’re either lying or dumb.
My Name Is Jack says
Oh, uh,
Gotcha!
jamesb says
on the lying and dumb?
they ARE STILL CONSERVATIVES….
adjectives don’t change anything…

I couldn’t easily find Pat Robertson’s reaction to that editorial, although the search results did remind me of his warning that Trump’s abandonment of the Kurds (Christian and Muslim) might lead to Trump losing the Mandate of Heaven.
One of the reporters or commentators on Friday’s PBS News Hour said (if I recall correctly) that 99% of white Evangelical men supported the profoundly un-Christian and unchristian Donald Trump. The pretence (or rationalizing self-delusion) that support for the sitting President has anything to do with Evangelical Christian faith — apart from Trump’s recently and expediently professed opposition to abortion and LGBTQ rights — is clearly thinner than rice paper.

“The dam has broken”
https://www.cnn.com/2019/12/20/opinions/christianity-today-editorial-opinion-parini/index.html
“Humility lies at the heart of Christian behavior. As does honesty.
In these, Trump has set a terrible example, and he’s now been taken down for this by an important Christian voice. If only another 10 percent of evangelicals take this seriously, and I suspect they will, Donald J. Trump’s presidency is destined for the ash heap of history.”
Scott P says
I hope that is the case CG.
I honestly do.
Zreebs says
I’m surprised that most here find hope in that editorial. After watching Trump over the past four years, you think an editorial will change how people think?
Wow
jamesb says
NO ONE here believes this will change anything….
But for those who the brainwashing may have worn off on?
They CAN feel the light….

More on Trump attacking Christianity Today….
Trump continued to criticize the publication throughout the day Friday, claiming he has done more than any other president for “religion itself.”
Trump also suggested the publication was looking to support 2020 Democratic hopefuls Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.) or “those of the socialist/communist bent.”
The president was responding to an editorial by Christianity Today editor-in-chief Mark Gally published Thursday that called for Trump’s removal from office and described the facts revealed in the House impeachment process as “unambiguous.”
“The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents,” wrote Galli. “That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral.”
The editorial also issued a direct appeal to the magazine’s evangelical readers.
“To the many evangelicals who continue to support Mr. Trump in spite of his blackened moral record, we might say this: Remember who you are and whom you serve. Consider how your justification of Mr. Trump influences your witness to your Lord and Savior,” Galli wrote. “Consider what an unbelieving world will say if you continue to brush off Mr. Trump’s immoral words and behavior in the cause of political expediency.”
