It is the anniversary of the Sandy Hook school mass shooting least we forget….
Gun Control isn’t good thing for Democrats to talk about…
It tend’s too cost them votes not increase votes…
But Biden went there….(He WAS there after the incident)
No major gun control legisiltion has a chance in Congress these days, no matter how many Americans are the victims of gun violence which almost a every week occurrence…
Former Vice President Joe Biden touted his gun control proposals on the seventh anniversary of the Sandy Hook shooting, saying he will prioritize efforts to combat the rise in shootings should he win the presidency.
“I said when I got into this race that I’m running to restore the soul of America,” he said in a statement. “Few things make the need for that more clear than school shootings – what kind of nation are we if we simply accept that kids learn active shooter drills with their ABCs?
“I know that we can defeat the NRA,” he continued. “I’m the only candidate in the race who has done it before – twice, when I was in the Senate. As president I’ll do it again.”
Biden has proposed a sweeping gun control plan that would, among other things, repeal the federal law that protects gun manufacturers from civil liability claims, ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and mandate background checks for all gun sales.
The former vice president expressed confidence that gun control could be a galvanizing issue heading into the 2020 race. …

And once again,
Voters to whom gun control of any type is anathema?
Have deserted the Democratic Party years ago and have been voting the Republican line ever since.
jamesb says
Yes Jack….
Good point….
Kushner & Co. are trying to get those gun people to actually come out and vote…
The mere thought of any gun control measure will probably get MORE of those to get off their rears and vote….
THAT isn’t good for Democrats…
This?…
While across wide parts of America?…. GOPer’s push voter suppression...
Keith says
Jack is completely right. James continues to repeat an old “wives tale” that has been debunked.
jamesb says
Morning Keith….
Sometimes i’m wrong….
But…
But sometimes i’m right….
THAT goes for EVERYBODY else here …
jamesb says
‘Different strokes for different folks!’
jamesb says
‘Viva la deference’s!’
jamesb says
BTW?
Is Bernie Sanders the new flavor of the month?

You being an afficionado of pollsJames,I have always found your obsession with gun control puzzling.
All polls consistently show a majority of Americans favoring commonsensical proposals such as those proposed by most Democrats.Gun confiscation?Of course not ,but things such as increased waiting periods, background checks, and keeping guns out of the hands of unstable individuals are favored by most voters.
The NRA ,despite certain representations here in the past, Is now northing more than an adjunct of the Trump Party (and apparently a cash cow for Right Wing extremist Wayne Lapierre) .
You seem trapped in the early 2000s when there were still some conservatives (mostly in the south) who still voted Democratic in state and local elections (while already mostly voting Republican in presidential elections) leaving over the gun issue.
As I have to continue to reiterate here.. those people have now been voting consistently Republican for years now which makes your insinuation that any Democrat talking about gun control is “risking” losing support all the more curious.
jamesb says
And we go round and round with this…
SURE most Americans favour some sort of gun control….
But?
Has ANY meaningful Federal legislation come forward for ratification?
jamesb says
There HAS SOME state laws…
But they are superseded by federal laws….
Oh, and I believe the Supreme’s will be ruling on if NYC can pass it’s own restrictive gun laws…
In NYC it IS almost impossible to Get a carry permit….
The restrictions there ARE strong…
Not so in the rest of the state…
jamesb says
The point I REPEATELY make here IS….
The single issue gun ownership issue IS a issue Democratic lawmakers shy away from, and Biden will also, because in tight race?
The gun people WILL come out in BIG numbers and THAT margin COULD very well cause a Democrat to lose…
There is VAST difference between polling numbers and actual votes…
But YOU KNOW that , Right?
Dreams and wants don’t are just that if you can’t enough votes to win the political prize that would allow you to do something….
I raise that point here all the time…
But some here do NOT want to hear or acknowledge THAT…
My Name Is Jack says
That’s a whole different topic and wholly irrelevant to whether it should be “discussed” or not.
It is also a “tactic” of yours to justify your many erroneous political points here.
As once again requires constant reiteration when dealing with one such as you? Many issues which later come to fruition begin with public discussion.
Your “theory” on this(that nothing should be discussed that can’t immediately be implemented by legislation ) is the height of absurdity ,yet well known to the posters here ,all of whom treat such with the contempt such mindless babbling deserves.
jamesb says
Thank You Jack….
Your NONE answer to my question was what I expected….
and makes my point….
Guns is NOT an issue Democrats want to run strongly on….
In the end?
It costs them votes they don’t want cast…
My Name Is Jack says
Haha…
Yeah
My Name Is Jack says
Oh yes and we all miss your favorite line…
Americans Love Their Guns…
Come on ,for the holidays?
Let er rip…
jamesb says
He, he , he
THANKS for saying it Jack‼️😁
My Name Is Jack says
James, do you “love” your guns?
jamesb says
Jack?
I’m with the party
Ya go silent on this except once in a while?
YOU GET ELECTED…
Hopefully with a majority you can THEN DI SOMETHING
Otherwise?
Ur sptting into the wind like now
My Name Is Jack says
Irrelevant gibberish
My Name Is Jack says
You’re “with the party.”
That’s funny!
My Name Is Jack says
You’re with Trump and the NRA!
They doesn’t want to talk about guns either .
jamesb says
Not a NRA member….
Nope…
AGAIN?
Gun Control won’t be mentioned much come next Summer and Fall before the election
jamesb says
Actually a registered Democrat….
Yup!
My Name Is Jack says
So?
On this issue?
Your position is much more in line with Trump and the NRA than the Democratic Party.
My Name Is Jack says
So on another subject…
There is a vast difference between polling numbers and actual votes.
James@12:05
So you are now implicitly conceding that Bidens poll numbers (which you almost daily pronounce here) are meaningless.
And indicate ,well,
Nothing
Uh, “but you know that,
Right?”
jamesb says
Biden’s poll numbers ARE what EVERYONE IS aware of and HAVE TO deal with….
YOU KNOW that….
Ur point is without merit
My Name Is Jack says
In other words….
You were so perturbed that I was making you look ridiculous that you essentially repudiated “polls.”
Poking fun at your obvious “faux pas” your inane response?
“Bidens poll numbers ARE what EVERYONE is aware of…”
Which of course has nothing to do with your earlier ,uh , “proclamation “ that polls have nothing to do with actual votes.
So, once again, do you believe that that or not.Simple question ,yes or no?
Keith says
I see James is flailing again after making one of his all encompassing and inaccurate statements.
As Jack points out, the polls, the same polls we read about here on a daily basis, all show overwhelmingly support for gun control. Yet James says it’s a losing issue.
He asked why there hasn’t been any legislation passed, but there has been in the House. The House Democrats are keeping their promise even though everything dies with Moscow Mitch. That’s why this next election matters so much. Change President and control of the Senate and Nancy will tee up those bills in a week.
This is a circular discussion that has been going on for years here. James makes an inaccurate statement, gets corrected, and then takes the conversation into outer space.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Most of those Blue Wall states that Trump wrenched away from the Blue column in 2016 have not only large rural, exurban, para-suburban, industrial or mining towns that cling tenaciously to their guns and vote strictly only for “2nd Amendment” zealots, but also large metropolises where guns kill someone every week, if not several times a day.
So if played right gun control could attract at least as many new Democratic voters as those will be repelled by it. I think it’s a matter of reviving or repeating the enthusiasm and turnout that Barack Obama did.
For example, I’d think that voters in Detroit who scream for fewer guns and tighter controls on who can own them might at least balance voters in the Upper Peninsula who are terrified that more gun control will inevitably lead to gun confiscation.
Ditto for residents of Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, Toledo, Dayton and Akron compared with Ohio’s small towns and countryside. Or potential voters in Madison and Milwaukee compared with small-town and rural Wisconsin. Or Philadelphia and Pittsburgh residents compared to those living in the T of Pennsylvania.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I should have added that that might be true of Presidential, Senatorial, Gubernatorial, and other statewide elections.
It would be very different in the smaller electorates for the U.S, House, state legislatures and local offices.
