The first poll was a 4%er from MorningConsult…
The former Republican New York City Mayor, who is back to being a Democrat isn’t gonna go anyplace in the Democratic nomination race….
Don’t matter how much money he has, or will spend…
But keep spending FOR Democrats Mike….
A new Reuters-Ipsos poll shows that if former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was to formally enter the Democratic primary race, he would be tied nationally with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.)
Released Friday, the national poll shows Bloomberg and Harris tied at 3 percent. Ahead of them is South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg at 6 percent, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) at 13 percent, and former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) leading the pack at 19 percent each.
The 77-year-old billionaire had filed to appear on Democratic primary ballots in Alabama and Arkansas, but has yet to formally announce his bid. A Bloomberg representative declined Reuters request for comment….
CG says
Point 1 is Bloomberg has yet to spend a penny. If he were to saturate the airwaves with ads, his polls likely change.
Nonetheless, polling him together with Biden is sort of pointless. The entire crux of a Bloomberg campaign would be that Biden is out of the race.
Scott P says
Tom Steyer has saturated basic cable with ads. Hasn’t really helped him. Yeah Bloomberg has more name recignituon going in but still.
CG says
Steyers ads have actually helped him into the top tier of candidates nationally in the polls.
Bloomberg could buy and sell Steyer though basically.
I know you hate billionaires with a passion. Despite what you claim about them, Bloomberg, the grandson of immigrants, is completely self-made.
Scott P says
Oh for cripes sake, just because I don’t obsess over a billionaire losing a hundred million doesn’t mean I “hate them with a passion”
The few hundred or thousand of them in the USA will be alright no matter what.
Maybe you and your ailing party should focus on the millions upon millions of Americans who struggle from paycheck to paycheck
jamesb says
Tom Steyer is at 1% in the RCP polling averages…
The guy has spent $45M….
CG says
I’ve seen polls with him in the Top 5 nationally and in early states. His money has made a bit of a difference considering how huge the field is and the “big names” who had large head starts who are polling behind him.
His campaign is also in some potential hot legal water over cash for endorsement allegations.
jamesb says
Steyer…
Iowa 2.7%
NH 2.3%
Nev 4%
SC 4.5%
Ca .8%
Tx Zip
Mass 0.5%
The guy is throwing away his money….But he’s got a lot, eh?
Zreebs says
Bloomberg would certainly not be the first candidate who ran for president to start a PAC beforehand to help other candidates running for office. I don’t recall that ever before being a controversy. I would have no reason to believe that Bloomberg would condition cash on an endorsement.
I also don’t believe that Bloomberg was planning to run. If he were, he could have planned his entry much better.
CG says
Talking about Steyer.
Google it.
CG says
Steyer’s campaign is accused of paying off Democrat political figures to endorse his Presidential campaign, which would be illegal.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Speaking of billionaires, anyone heard anything about Andrew Yang?
CG says
I was wondering what the liberals here thought of his Universal Basic Income proposal.
Good idea or bad?
CG says
Yang is definitely significantly short of being a billionaire though.
jamesb says
Another media favorite = Yang….
Several of these people will get jobs in a Biden admin….
jamesb says
He, he, he…..
I WAS waiting for u on Steyers campaign caper…
CG says
When I read the story about the Steyer campaign scandal my first thought was to scan for Keith’s name. Had it been there, I might have posted it sooner.
jamesb says
Bloomberg spend NO Money Yet?
Bloomberg already shelling out $100M for anti-Trump online ads, before formal announcement
More…
CG says
Yeah, he is just starting that today.
He’s going after Trump. You should be cheering him on. Maybe it will get the public to pay more attention to what Trump has been doing.
My Name Is Jack says
Steyer is all over tv down here in S.C.
I think he is still running around 4-5% here.
CG says
That’s pretty good considering. Look at who is behind him and how many there are.
jamesb says
RCP. has Stryker @ 4.5% average in SC
My Name Is Jack says
A lot of people down here are commenting on his voice.
Doesn’t bother me but some people find it annoying.
CG says
He looks like he probably bakes great cookies with his co-workers at Keebler.
jamesb says
Not a good look…..
Hey Jack…
Deval Patrick mention’s?
CG says
There is a lot of coverage in Chicago about Deval Patrick since he grew up there on the South Side.
Also, Axelrod is based out of here and clearly he (and apparently Plouffe) are in on Patrick.
Anybody who has followed Axelrod’s Twitter or public statements knows he doesn’t really think too highly of Biden.
jamesb says
Obama was rumoured to be interested in Patrick running…
But I would think it’s just way too late….
The choices are the top tier
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Obama and Patrick are fairly close; Patrick consulted Obama before Patrick entered the 2010 Dem. primary for Governor of Massachusetts.
My Name Is Jack says
Haven’t seen anything about him yet.
jamesb says
Mike Bloomberg to spend $30M in political ads…
jamesb says
Steyer has spend $40m …..
Still in single digits….
Low single
