Up to now?
Joe Biden has NOT gone after other Democratic challengers…
THAT is no longer the case…
In the last week or so?
He has come out swinging against Elizabeth Warren…
After Elizabeth Warren came out with her plan to use Trillions in taxes to pay for her Single Payer/Medicare for All healthcare plan…
Biden’s poll numbers bounced up in the polls and Warren’s have levelled out…
(Sanders and Buttigieg have gained)
Murmers of compliant have begun to surface against the cost and use of increased taxes that are unrealistic….
Warren’s fight back has earned her pushback from Buttigieg, Klobuchar and now Biden…
Only Biden has gone further…
He has knocked Warren for being out of touch with mainstream Democrats and being a ‘my way or the highway’ politician and looking down her nose at moderate/centrist Democrats from a progressive ‘dreaming’ perch…Biden has worked within the system his whole life…Someone trying top blow it up?…Isn’t what he feels is gonna work, especially with a Donald Trump who is ignoring that system and doing ‘his own thing’
Mr. Biden and Ms. Warren have clashed repeatedly over health care, especially as Ms. Warren has overtaken Mr. Biden in some early-state polls. Ms. Warren supports “Medicare for all,” an expansive government-run health insurance system that would all but eliminate private health insurance, while Mr. Biden wants to add a “public option” to build on the Affordable Care Act, but still allow people to choose private insurance.
Last week, after Mr. Biden’s campaign criticized Ms. Warren’s proposal to pay for Medicare for all, she suggested that Mr. Biden was “running in the wrong presidential primary.”
“Democrats are not going to win by repeating Republican talking points and by dusting off the points of view of the giant insurance companies and the giant drug companies who don’t want to see any change in the law that will bite into their profit,” she said.
Her message drew a pointed rebuke from Mr. Biden, who wrote that such remarks “reflect an angry unyielding viewpoint that has crept into our politics. If someone doesn’t agree with you — it’s not just that you disagree — that person must be a coward or corrupt or a small thinker.”
Some of Ms. Warren’s other opponents, including Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind., have also been critical of Ms. Warren’s health care proposal, and of her approach to promoting it.
In several venues on Tuesday, Mr. Biden also repeatedly seized on the fact that Ms. Warren was once a registered Republican, though she is now a leading progressive contender for the Democratic nomination and Mr. Biden is perceived by many on the left as too moderate and overly focused on striking deals with Republicans.
“I have fought for the Democratic Party my whole career,” Mr. Biden wrote. “I know what we stand for, who we stand with and what we believe. And it’s not just policies or issues. It’s in my bones. That’s not something everyone in this primary can say.”
He was more explicit at the fund-raiser: “I’ve been a Democrat my whole life. This person has only fairly recently in the mid-’90s become a Democrat.”….

Democratic Socialist Dave says
Everything depends on how you look at things.
Joe Biden said “I’ve been a Democrat my whole life. This person has only fairly recently in the mid-’90s become a Democrat.”
That means that Sen. Warren (born in 1949) has been a Democrat for 20-25 years, which is more than half the lifespan (let alone political consciousness) of Pete Buttigieg (age 37) or any other voter below the age of 45 (or 55 if counting only the politically-aware years over age 12).
Hillary Clinton (born in 1947) was a Goldwater Girl in 1964, and I don’t know when she started identifying with the Democratic Party.

Biden IS trying to capitalise on Warren’s overprice healthcare plan misstep…..

A former RI GOP officer closes Never-Trump PAC after collecting $0
A former R.I. GOP official launched a PAC to back Trump opponents. He raised zero dollars
By Edward Fitzpatrick [Boston] Globe Staff,
Updated November 6, 2019, 6:00 a.m.
The former Rhode Island Republican Party executive director who created an “Eighty-Six Trump” political action committee has decided to “eighty-six” the whole idea.
Robert A. Paquin III launched the PAC’s website in July, looking to raise money from across the political spectrum to support statewide or legislative candidates who oppose President Trump. But on Tuesday, he told the Globe he has not raised any money and is shutting the PAC down.
“It’s definitely unfortunate, but I think I’ve learned from this,” Paquin said. “I can do something better to help people politically than unite everyone that hates the president.”
Paquin served as state GOP director in 2014, he voted for Trump in 2016, and he managed Republican Giovanni Feroce’s unsuccessful campaign for governor in 2018.
But Paquin, who now lives in Stonington, Conn., became disenchanted with Trump and switched from Republican to unaffiliated earlier this year.
In July, he launched a website, ESTPAC.org, that pictured Trump apparently mocking a disabled reporter. “Is this what the leader of the free world should look like?” the website asked. “We cannot ignore the classist, racist, and overall prejudicial policies of President Donald Trump.”
But on Tuesday, Paquin said he is ending the PAC in part because people he spoke to about it wanted to change its scope or direction.
“One person wanted to leverage the platform to lead the reorganization of the Rhode Island Republican Party — to pull people in who are against Trump but who are registered Republicans or lean right,” he said. “It was a good idea but not what I wanted to accomplish.”
Paquin said he suspects non-Republicans were leery of him given his past involvement with the party. “A few people told me to go pound sand,” he said. “But there were some Democrats who thought it was a great idea.”
Also, he said he now sees that his PAC was trying to employ Trump’s own tactics.
“It was combatting divisive politics with more divisive politics,” he said. “I was feeding off people’s anger and hatred for him. Now, I’m going in a different direction that is more constructive and inclusive.”….

Michael Bloomberg is filing to run in the Alabama Democratic Presidential primary.
Let’s see how long till CG finds a reason not to vote for him lol
CG says
Why Alabama?
Is he just trying to beat Jeff Sessions in the “shortest guy to file” contest?
Scott P says
Alabama has an early filing deadline.
CG says
I just hope his first act as a candidate in Alabama isn’t to start lecturing people on the size of their pop (soda.)
CG says
Maybe the thought is that if Alabama Democrats can accept a NYC Jew like himself, he can make it everywhere…?
Good thing he isn’t gay though or the people there who share the mindset of James Clyburn’s old school constituents would rule him out with a shrug.
CG says
NH filing is going on right now. I guess he is going to forgo the really early ones to see what happens to Biden. Makes sense.
CG says
“Bloomberg believes the dynamics of the race have changed on the Democratic Party side, with moderate frontrunner Joe Biden stumbling and anti-corporate candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) gaining steam.
“Trump will get re-elected if Elizabeth Warren is the nominee. That’s not something any Democrat would want,” a Bloomberg insider said. “[Therefore] Mike was encouraged to take another look and reassess the race.”
You gotta admire he had the guts to actually pull the trigger (an analogy he might not like)
Scott P says
Jesus, still stickong with that? Get a hobby lol
CG says
Which post has triggered you now? It can be hard to keep up on here with the format and replies.
Scott P says
Your “Democrats are the real homophobes” horseshit from a few days ago.
CG says
Well, according to Jim Clyburn they can, and he did not seem the least bit troubled by it.
Of course there are anti-gay Democrats (and pro-gay Republicans). This shouldn’t come as a shock to you.
CG says
A “homophobe” (or anti-gay if you prefer which I think is probably a more accurate encompassing term) is a homophone, whether, D, R, or I.
Either you accept them for what they are across the board or you denounce them for their view, across the board.
That should be simple.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Homophobe and Homophone are completely and utterly different words, Corey.
Homophobes have a phobia (fear & hatred) of homosexuals, homophiles [ = lovers of the same sex) and LBGTQ folks.
¶ Homophones (same + sound) are similar or identical sounds for two or more significantly different things. For example (one of James’ favourites) there & their; where, ware & wear; which & witch; stare & stair; fare & fare; some & sum; wile & while; might & mite; right & rite; sight, cite & site; [and for slightly off-colour examples, the words that sound like pea and come].
In earlier times, and in some of today’s dialects (e.g. Scots), the WH in which or where was a combination of W and H, unlike the simple W in wear, ware and witch.
Similarly the IGHT in might, right and sight was a more complex sound than the ITE in mite, rite, cite and site.
CG says
My bad on the typo, I was finishing things up.
I believe the homophone is what Joe Biden recently said was a good learning tool for children to learn about LGBT rights.

Politicalwire…
Scott P says
As Jack pointed out you don’t care about this.
CG says
I told jack and all of you that there are many reasons to think Mayor Pete should not be President, but his being gay should not be one of them.
I think I made the point clearly and either you agree with me on that or you do not.
But whether I “care” or not about “homophobia” is not really the issue.
Double standards are wrong is the issue.
Scott P says
Well when an openly gay Republican th s for President we’ll see how your party reacts.
CG says
There was an openly gay Republican that ran in 2012 but nobody had really heard of him. He was some kind of former IRS official.
I do know that if a conservative is asked about voters rejecting the candidate because they are gay and the conservative would say “oh yeah, that’s definitely the reason” , even while it might be honest, that person will be said to be enabling anti-gay bigotry by smiling about it and accepting it as legitimate.
That’s what Clyburn did.
Goodnight to all.
CG says
He has to get nominated first before I can decide if I can vote for him or not in a general.
Can he?

Mike Bloomberg will reportedly file to run for President in Alabama …..
I have no idea what this means….
Post forthcoming later
Oooops!
I seem to be the last one on this….
CG says
Bloomberg becomes “President of Alabama” and they secede? He can probably buy the state.
Zreebs says
Perhaps – Like most red states, Alabama’s economy has under-performed the nation in the past two decades.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
CBS News reports that Alabama has one of the Union’s earliest filing deadlines [at least for independent presidential candidates], which might well be why Bloomberg is filing or planning to file in the Cradle of the Confederacy.
But an independent candidate can only help by taking more votes from potential Republican voters than from potential Democratic voters. Otherwise he or she is the unwitting, and perhaps even noble-minded, abettor of those who would — and likely will — undermine the Republic.
CG says
Bloomberg is running as a Democrat. I wish he were running as an Independent in case of the Warren vs. Trump possibility.
Keith says
Really, the guy who defended gay bashing Pence is referencing homophobia. Go figure.
Scott P says
I can’t wait for all the Congressional Republicans to denounce Donald Trump Jr for comparing his family’s “sacrifices” to their businesses by running for President to the ultimate price paid by soldiers buried at Arlington.
I mean surely they will denounce lil Don right?
My Name Is Jack says
Chris Cilliza over at CNN thinks Donald Trump Jr. is really trying to position himself as a possible successor to his father or at least as a leader of the Trump wing of the Republican Party.
CG says
I thought I heard his comments this morning and it was more in line of “Don Jr. is positioning himself as a troll.” I did not hear anything in which he said he was angling for a legitimate political career, but perhaps I missed something.
I think Don Jr. is trying to position himself to an audience of 1, his father, above all else.
My Name Is Jack says
I think Jr. takes himself very seriously to and I think that he very well may try to enter the political ranks at some point.
How success he will be is another question,
CG says
He knows his father has very little use for him and he is at least #3 on the Power Rankings behind Ivanka and the “lucky guy who gets to sleep with her.”
Imagine the baggage that must come with being Donald Trump Jr your whole life. Still, he’s an adult and is responsible for his own life and actions at this point.
Scott P says
From what I’ve seen in conservative media Don Jr. is the one Trumpistas like because he likes to “stick it to the libruls”.
They view Ivanka as suspect I believe.
CG says
To be clear, he is at least #3 on his father’s Power Rankings.
He likely at least remembers the name Don though. I am not sure even he knows Tiffany’s name without prompting.

Trump said it was a great book!
I’m sure many on this site are eager to peruse it!
Zreebs says
To be fair, wouldn’t you have a short attention span if you were asked to read Donald Jr’s book?

However, my point was that Trumps attention span is so short that is difficult to believe he literally took the time to “read”

Nikki Haley is trying to have things both ways….
…On the one hand, Haley insists that it’s a constitutional duty for the president’s will to be followed. On the other hand, it’s a constitutional excuse for him that his will wasn’t followed. When Kelly, who served as chief of staff, and Tillerson, Trump’s first secretary of state, second-guess the president, they are usurping power our Constitution gave him. But when the president issues a command, sometimes it’s really more of a suggestion….

Former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt was on that page just today.
CG says
It probably won’t happen but it would make for very smart politics to do so. Where are the Evangelical Trump apologists going to go?
Haley wouldn’t do it though if she views Trump as a sure loser.
CG says
If this were the tv show “Veep”, the WH would announce that Penee was leaving the ticket due to a “prostate problem.”
My Name Is Jack says
Haha!Thats funny…
She would do it in a skinny minute.
How could anyone “view” Trump as a “sure loser “months before the election?
CG says
The way things stand now, it is in Haley’s interest for Trump to lose in 2020. I am sure she prefers that outcome, visa vis 2024.
She would be VP for four years to be sure if she could, but if she thinks Trump will lose and take others down with him, then it’s best to just be waiting on the sidelines.
My Name Is Jack says
My point is that there is no way months before the election that Trump is going to be considered a “sure loser.”
Accordingly, if you believe that such would be the only way she wouldn’t “accept” it ,then your whole point falls.
Haley is very ambitious.
Of course she would take it if offered.
Isn’t even a close call.
CG says
If she thinks his reelection is likely to fail.
Plenty of people look at polls and see that.
However, the hard to deny dysfunction in the opposition party is certainly a potentially mitigating factor.
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah and the Republican Party is so uh “functional.”
Ruled by a man you’ve described as a “psychopath “ with a host of babbling sycophants making ever more outrageous excuses for his aberrant behavior.
Yep they’re really “functioning.”
CG says
What does one thing have to do with the other?
To my direct point, are you denying that there is dysfunction among Democrats and that it is having an effect on this race?
My Name Is Jack says
Anyone can argue that there is “dysfunction “ in any party when there is anomination fight going on.
What’s new about that?
It is quite unusual though that the party of the sitting President is as dysfunctional as Your Trump ruled party is.
Serves them right as they bow the knee of fealty to this lunatic.
CG says
The amount of candidates getting in or deciding to get into the contest late because they view frontrunners as weak or potential nominees as unelectable is pretty remarkable in modern time.
I am not suggesting a latecomer is going to be nominated and Scott named a bunch of people who got into the race late, but nobody has really gotten into the race this close to the actual voting in many cycles.
The bottom line is that as unpopular as Trump is personally, in many parts of the country, there is a fear of Democrats ideologically and what could happen under them that is keeping Trump “in the game.”
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Since 1856, only one running-mate of a losing Presidential candidate has become President; FDR (James Cox’s VP candidate in 1920; elected Pres. 1932). A couple have run and lost, e.g. Walter Mondale (1980 & 1984) and Robert Dole (1976 & 1996). Ed Muskie didn’t win the 1972 Democratic nomination.
And (to compare the case of a successful Trump-Haley ticket) the only sitting Vice-Presidents to be elected President after the rules were changed in 1804 by the 12th Amendment have been Martin Van Buren in 1836 and George H.W. Bush in 1988. Nixon failed in 1960, as did Humphrey in 1968 and Al Gore in 2000. Alben Barkley didn’t win the Democratic nomination in 1948.
But streaks do end (as do situations); they are not (as we found in 1988) not immutable Laws.
CG says
As I briefly mentioned last week, I received an email invite to an “upcoming event” for Nikki Haley in Chicago. It came from her PAC. It did not give a time, a place, or the hefty amount of money they are surely asking for, but just wanted to know if I was interested.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
All of those people, like many of us, have promised to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all, enemies, foreign and domestic.

I’d laugh my ass off if Mike Pence was dumped from the ticket and sent back to Mother after all his groveling and toadying.

Pence though would probably react much the same way Sessions has ,by defending Trump even more vociferously.
I actually enjoy watching Trump treat these Republican lackeys with contempt.
They deserve every bit of it.
Scott P says
Yeah add Ted Cruz to that list. Trump called his wife ugly and his dad a murderer and ole Ted asked “sir, may I have another?”
Pathetic!
CG says
I’m not denying the pathetic aspect to Cruz and whatnot, but these sort of things are not unprecedented in politics.
You had Bill Clinton calling Mario Cuomo a “mafioso” in secret telephone recordings and then a few months later, Cuomo was giving the nominating speech.
Al Gore accused Bill Bradley of “practically inventing racial profiling” and Bradley supported Gore in the general election.
Lots of other examples too.
What seems brand new though is Jeff Sessions running for office and making an ad bragging about the fact that Trump attacks him and he stays silent and takes it.
Scott P says
True. But in tbe Republican Party today the insults ard allowed to go one way.
Republicans say they like Trump because he “fights back”–but anyone who fights back against Trump is persona non grata in the GOP.
Just look at the Ballad of Mark Sanford.
CG says
Sanford never had his heart into it. He thought he could start a discussion about the “national debt” as if that is what is fueling passion in people these days. So, he’s disappointed Trump is getting impeached and that won’t get to be discussed.
At least Weld and Walsh know this is a “war” and have it in them to throw whatever bombs they can guerrilla style.
Scott P says
I agree. Sanfird should have kniwn Republicans don’t give a shit about the national debt unless a Democrat is President.

Zreebs says
This is a typical response from Corey – “the Democrats are just as bad at this”, and then provide only examples of Democrats. Well there is a big difference between saying something in private and in saying something on National TV, and there is a also a big difference between a candidate spinning a political attack on someone and a personal attack on their wife. Sometimes I think Corey is really just trying to convince himself that Democrats are just as bad. And never underestimate the ability of our brains to justify what it wants to believe.
CG says
The words “just as bad” appear where exactly?
Also, any objection if I start referring to you by your actual first name? First name only.
Zreebs says
You previously said I could call you by your first name, but not by your last name. I’ll call you CG from now on, but you might want to call it CG’s Prognostications. Otherwise some brilliant mind will likely be able to guess your first name.
CG says
I’ll take that into consideration. Thank you for your cooperation.
Zreebs says
I have to assume that when you make a comment, you think it is relevant. If it is really not comparable, then don’t provide a “what about?” response. Of course politicians in both parties make personal insults at opponents and then make up. But why compare Clinton’s private conversation to Trump’s National TV comment? This “a lie is a lie” mentality is a recurring flaw in your arguments. And the fact that you play that game so frequently makes it too easy fir us to dismiss those real instances when your analogy is relevant.
Keith says
I agree with Jack, Zreebs, and Scott.
The insults leveled by Trump on his fellow Republicans are in a league of their own.
We all remember how Trump thoroughly insulted Mitt Romney, “I should have asked Mitt to drop to his knees” over the 2012 endorsement and Mitt still groveled for a job in this Administration.
Trump’s insult of Cruz and Cruz’s pathetic and ball less response should have engendered divorce proceedings. But no, Cruz like Ms. Lindsay and now Nikki are still blowing Trump’s manhood (or what can be described as such) to curry favor with the leader of the Republican Party.
Nothing compares to what this orange piece of shit has hurled at his opponents, especially those in his own party. And, it’s a false equivalency to play what about with what other candidates, especially Democrats, have said about opponents. Especially when they owned up and apologized.
Let’s get serious about anyone who continues to play this game, even in this limited environment, they are making excuses for Trump.
The whole Republican Party is on trial tomorrow and those who make excuses for those who make excuses for Trump are no better than Trump.
