Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris have fallen with the Democrats……
Former Vice President Joe Biden continues to lead the newly expanded field of contenders for the Democratic nomination for president, with Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont behind him in a close battle for second, according to a new CNN Poll conducted by SSRS.
The 2020 Democratic field has been defined by its turbulence, with some contenders rising, others dropping out and two more jumping in just this month. Yet there is only one candidate who rocketed to the top tier and then plummeted in early state polls to the low single digits: Ms. Harris.
From those polling results to Ms. Harris’s campaign operation, fund-raising and debate performances, it has been a remarkable comedown for a senator from the country’s largest state, a politician with star power who was compared to President Obama even before Californians elected her to the Senate in 2016.
Yet, even to some Harris allies, her decline is more predictable than surprising. In one instance after another, Ms. Harris and her closest advisers made flawed decisions about which states to focus on, issues to emphasize and opponents to target, all the while refusing to make difficult personnel choices to impose order on an unwieldy campaign, according to more than 50 current and former campaign staff members and allies, most of whom spoke on condition of anonymity to disclose private conversations and assessments involving the candidate….
“You have to wonder whether she peaked too soon,” former Iowa Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, co-chair of the advocacy group Focus on Rural Iowa, said of Warren. “In Iowa, she is wearing some — [it’s] like she established her endorsers and her delegates and that’s all there is.”
While the top-polling candidates are sure to rise and fall before the Feb. 3 caucuses, a dozen Democratic activists, county chairs and strategists in the state said Warren is no longer viewed as the prohibitive frontrunner there. Her performance reflects her struggles of late nationally, including one poll out Tuesday that showed her support cut in half in the span of a month….

Quinnipiac has been doing polling of the Democratic candidates every 3 weeks or so.
So let’s look at how Biden has done over time. (|Full disclosure, I did not include all of the polls, some of which showed a small Biden uptick), but these are legitimate Quinnipiac numbers against the other Democratic candidates.)
% THAT WILL VOTE FOR BIDEN IN THE PRIMARY
April 2019 38%
May 2019 35%
July 2019 34%
August 2019 32%
October 2019 27%
Latest Poll – Nov’19 24%
Other candidates have had rather wild swings. Warren for example, went from 7% to 30%, and now stands at 14%. Biden has been relatively stable, albeit it with a declining trend. We’ll see what happens from here. Be forewarned though, the voters will begin to pay more attention to what the candidates are saying – as they should.

One HAD to always expect that Biden’s numbers would come down getting closer to the actual election as will Trump….
BOTH have maintained their leads though….
In respect to Biden?
He HAS kept his lead under a constant barrage of negative throw downs…

With regard to your last comment, the same thing can be said about Trump in 2016. The media was clearly critical of Trump, but he won anyway, and he has been a disaster.
In my opinion, the reason that Biden has been criticized is because he has deserved it. He would be a huge improvement over Trump, but even with that said, as of today, I personally don’t think he is up for the job. There is still time for him to convince me I am wrong.

Despite what you read here,it is fairly well known in political circles that the vast majority of voters do not start paying attention to elections until about a month out.

In fact your comment Jack is simplistic….
Polling shows that MOST Americans ARE following the political world doings….
No they aren’t open our level…
But MOST do have an ideas of what is going on….
They ARE paying attention…
It is impossible NOT to….
Most just have to get thru own lives ….
THAT is most important to them…
