Oooops?
Senator Warren introduced her Medicare for All healthcare plan a few weeks ago…
I has been a dud…
The cost is over a trillion dollars and it would only raise taxes for the rich, she says…
Even Democrats in her own party have turned their backs on her big ‘dream’…..
Now we seem to have a clarification with a transition period perposal, which is in fact a step backwards…..
Warren is trying to walk a fine line by keeping parts of the current system , while pushing for its overall elimination….
Warren intends for the transition plan — which she had signaled she would release earlier this month — to pass Congress in her first 100 days as president via a budget procedure allowing it to be approved in the Senate by a simple majority.
“I’ll give every American over the age of 50 the choice to enter an improved Medicare program, and I’ll give every person in America the choice to get coverage through a true Medicare for all option,” wrote Warren in a Medium post outlining her plan.
Warren’s campaign says she would continue to fight for Medicare-for-all as the next step. But she is risking criticism from those on the left, who could argue that once a public option is adopted there would be little political appetite to embrace the more sweeping Medicare-for-all system….
Ms. Warren’s eventual goal — a wholesale transformation of how Americans get health insurance — is a big political gamble. Her Medicare for all plan would require an estimated $20.5 trillion in new federal spending over a decade, and to provide funding for it, she would impose new taxes on businesses and the richest Americans.
But the plan she presented on Friday stops short of calling for the enactment of such a sweeping overhaul at the beginning of her presidency. That piecemeal strategy could be more politically palatable to voters who are not sold on Medicare for all, but it could also draw criticism from liberals that she is unwilling to spend political capital at the outset of her presidency to press for the establishment of a single-payer system.
Though the details differ, Ms. Warren’s transition plan shares many features with health proposals from her more moderate rivals for the nomination, including Joseph R. Biden Jr., the former vice president, and Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Ind. For example, it would allow higher-income adults to voluntarily sign up for a new public plan. Ms. Warren’s proposal, however, would make the optional government plan more generous, and would allow more Americans to access it for free.
Her plan attempts to offer something attractive to both sides of the Democratic health care debate, by preserving her commitment to the single-payer vision that energizes voters on the left, while offering a less disruptive set of policies in the short term to those who may be reluctant to give up their existing coverage….
Note…
Warren’s adjustment to a 3 year transition has already come under attack from the Biden and Buttigieg camp’s which see the move as a attempt to borrow some of their plan and put Warren on both sides of the fence…

There is sense of floundering to her on this lately.
What amazes me is that Bernie is coming back. His heart attack helped him politically. People who say they want a bleeding heart liberal really mean it!
So, *if* somehow Warren goes down in a major way, that will benefit Bernie.
Could he actually be nominated? You guys better hope not.

Let’m keep fighting for the left….
Biden can just keep cruising….

Well you guys “”hoped not” for Donald Trump.
He won.
I’m not for Bernie, but in a race against Trump?Anything can happen.
The problem is you and another poster here still are looking at the political scene through pre2016 lenses. You don’t want to face that Trump has upended all the political norms in this country.
If you had told me in November 2015 that next year Donald Trump would be elected President? Yeah ,I would have laughed like Hell. All of us would have.
You want to tell me today that there is no chance Bernie Sanders can be elected President next year?I think I’ll just smile and say simply?..”Who knows?”

Gee CG pointing out the negatives in a Democratic nominee. Who’d have thunk it? Lol
It must suck to know whoever you vote for not only has no chance to win. They aren’t even a real candidate.
