Is THIS a joke?
Exit polls in 2016 showed just 8% of the black vote went to Trump….
The guy hasn’t done much to elevate that number in 3 years…
President Trump on Friday accelerated efforts to win over support from black voters for his reelection bid, arguing his economic record should allow him to garner greater support among the voting bloc that has traditionally favored Democrats.
The president spoke at a “Black Voices for Trump” event in Atlanta, where he was joined by hundreds of supporters and a few prominent allies in an effort to kickstart his campaign’s outreach to African American voters.
“One year from now we’re going to win another incredible victory, and we’re going to do it with a groundswell of support form hard-working African American patriots,” Trump said, reading from prepared remarks. “And you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
The president opened by polling attendees on whether they preferred the slogan “Blacks for Trump” or “African Americans for Trump,” which prompted a chant of “Blacks for Trump!” He recounted his appeal to black voters near the end of the 2016 election when he asked: “What the hell do you have to lose?”
The president explicitly blamed Democrats for driving urban areas into the ground, a pattern he described as a “betrayal” that has hurt African Americans more than any other group….

Republican support among Blacks over the past fifty years has been around 10% or so.
There’s nothing to auggedt that Trump will improve on his 8% in 2016.

Trump seems to get more attention from Latino’s….

This makes sense to me from a political perspective. Most racists don’t want to believe that they are a racist or that their preferred candidate is racist. So this type of event appeals to a them. Next we might see a Latinos for Trump event too.

I’m sure there will be Z….

From 1936 to 1960 (when Nixon’s commitment to civil rights was at least plausible), the percentage of the Negro vote that supported Republican presidential candidates varied from 23% to 39%.
Goldwater (who’d voted against LBJ’s Civil Rights Act) won only 6% of the Negro vote in 1964. From 1968 to 2004, the GOP vote wavered between 8% and 15% of the black vote.
With Obama as the Democratic candidate, the GOP won only 4% of the African- American vote in 2008 and 6% in 2012. Trump won 8% in 2016.
