But in London?
Only a few specially trained police officers are armed….
The action was deemed a ‘terrorist ‘ one and the London Police responded with their armed special response officers…The suspect wore a ‘fake‘ bomb vest…Several people detained the suspect b before the police arrived on the scene after the suspect used a knife to attack people…
Onlookers said several members of the public tackled the assailant and were fighting with him as police arrived at the scene.
The bridge across the Thames River in central London is a major artery — and was the scene in June 2017 of a terrorist attack in which assailants identified as sympathizers of the Islamic State rammed pedestrians with their van, then sought out victims to stab.
A reporter with the BBC, John McManus, said Friday he saw “a group of men involved in a fight on the bridge.”
“There appeared to be a fight going on on the other side of the bridge, with several men attacking one man. . . . Police then arrived, and shots were fired,” he said, according to the broadcaster….

London Bridge: Two killed in stabbing attack
BBC News, 5 minutes ago (~1;30 p.m. EST Friday = 6:30 p.m. GMT)
Two members of the public have died after a stabbing attack at London Bridge, in which police also shot dead the suspect.
The Met Police has declared the attack a terrorist incident.
The suspect, who died at the scene, was believed to have been wearing a hoax explosive device, police said.
Videos on social media appear to show passers-by holding down a man. An officer arrives, seems to indicate to the group to move, and fires a shot.
A Whitehall source confirmed two members of the public died to the BBC but gave no further information.
Details are still emerging and Neil Basu, the head of UK counter-terrorism policing, said the force was keeping an open mind over the motive….
