The ex-US House member from Texas has seen the light…
The nomination is not his to get….
Running gun control towards the end was simply not nearly enough…
As the 2020 nomination race narrows down to a select few?
Money and support has dried up for a lot of the people in the large primary field…
Kamala Harris maybe next….
She’s down sizing her campaign staff in Iowa and has pulled her New Hampshire staff…
The race is down a half of dozen and really seems to be just between two people…..
Former Representative Beto O’Rourke of Texas announced on Friday that he was dropping out of the presidential race, ending a campaign in which he struggled for months to recapture the energy of his insurgent 2018 Senate candidacy on a national stage full of other big personalities and liberal champions.
Mr. O’Rourke made the decision to quit the race in the middle of this week, on the eve of a gathering of Democratic presidential candidates in Iowa, according to people familiar with his thinking. He is not expected to run for any other office in 2020, despite persistent efforts by party leaders and political donors to coax him into another bid for the Senate.
His campaign has been under extreme financial strain, and Mr. O’Rourke’s advisers concluded that proceeding in the race might have meant making deep cuts to his staff in order to pay for advertising and other measures to compete in the early primary and caucus state.

Good candidate,Wrong year.
CG says
Bad candidate. Right timing. Being a bad candidate is too much to overcome.
Zreebs says
I think Beto is a good candidate – but not for President at this time. He is likeable and his quirkiness is actually appealing.
But Beto sometimes came across in debates like he didn’t have a great grasp of the issues.
My Name Is Jack says
Like you would think any Democratic candidate is a “good” candidate.
We all know ,however ,that you are no uh what’s that word you use to refer to anyone other than yourself?Ah ,yes “tribalism.”
CG says
There are good candidates as far as political skills and ability to appeal to the specific electorate they are trying to get votes from. I have mentioned this about Warren and Buttigieg many times.
Beto just came across as an empty suit. He believed the hype about himself and did not realize that he was no longer merely running against Ted Cruz.
jamesb says
I think Beto came on as a bit lost at first…
He took time finding the ‘fever’ then didn’t have a good reason to run…
He finally settled on gun control a non-starter…
As i have said repeating here
American’s love their guns
NO ONE change this
Democrats can make noise on it
But in the end?
Leave it alone…
My Name Is Jack says
Yes we all know that you consider Buttigieg and Warren “good” candidates.
Saturday Night Live is starting Early today!
CG says
You seem grumpy again. I think I have long been able to distinguish and comment upon Democrats I thought were good politicians or campaigners (such as Obama early on in his U.S. Senate campaign) and Republicans I thought were lousy politicians. It has nothing to do with whether I agree with these people or disagree with them on issues. I just “predicted” that a Democrat will oust the Republican Governor of Kentucky. You probably think that won’t happen (and that could be the case)
Very few people yesterday or today were claiming that Beto proved to be a “good candidate.” They are tending to say the opposite, even Democrats. If you have a different view on Beto’s political skills, that is your right.
Is this all really that hard to understand?
Scott P says
Did John Kasich price to be a “good candidate”?
CG says
Certainly in Ohio he did . He wasn’t in tune with the primary electorate when he ran for President, although he did outlast and outperform several other candidates who shared his base of support.
Whom did Beto beat out? deBlasio?
Scott P says
He was basically a favorite son candidate for Ohio.
Couldn’t win a single other state.
Scott P says
Prove
Keith says
He can’t prove it Scott, Kasich didn’t even have enough suck to get his own guy in as Ohio State Republican Chairman. They elected a Trumpkin. So much for the never Trumpers. Last week’s vote gave an accurate count of who they are, or aren’t, as the case might be.
Like I said it’s a distraction from Corey’s dilemma. His Party went full Nazi on him and it’s tough defending a bunch of wannabe storm troopers like Gym Jordan or Matt Gaetz when they’re telling lies in support of the Great White Hope and defending his criminal activity.
No, let’s talk about Beto O’Rouke or Tulsi, folks that were never going to be nominated, but candidates far superior to the motley crew trying to take on Trump in his party.
Where’s Willard? Why doesn’t Willard challenge this Orange Puss Bag and save party and country.
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah that’s it I’m “grumpy.”
And hey I don’t see “greys.”
And I “hate” all Republicans and have for 50 years.
And I never vote for any Republican.
And if I do that’s bad too because any Republican who supported Trump can’t be voted for ,although when Trump is gone then those who supported him can be voted for again. And…
Whatever…
CG says
…and you approach this all as if it were a professional wrestling production.
Don’t forget that one!
My Name Is Jack says
Yes I did forger that one!
But since we have a Republican President Who Actually has been in several Professional Wrestling productions?
Well, it just seemed self evident that such is now what we are dealing with…an actual Professional Wrestling production on the national political scene.
jamesb says
Yes indeed….
Trump riding the GOPer horns into the dirt….
Keith says
This is just a distraction. Let’s spend the whole day trashing a long shot candidate for the Democratic nomination when no Republican of any stature has the balls to go against Trump and rally the millions of Republicans just waiting for a savior.
CG says
Ok, fair enough. What else do you want to say about Tulsi Gabbard today, Keith?
jamesb says
Great self review Jack‼️

I did it especially for you!
See the next time you can’t make a logical countervailing argument on whatever subject that is under discussion ?(all subjects)
You can resort to one of these well used uh “arguments .”
Just pick and choose.
Fortunately ,with you ,no such choice is necessary.
One can simply cite your ignorance of the subject at hand and they will have explained all your statements on the matter.
