Maya King over at Politico is out with a piece today that advertises Elizabeth Warren’s ‘dramatic’ gain with black voters….
Huh?
Last poll form South Carolina had Warren at a whoping 4%!….
In the piece King has a Q poll with here at a whopping 19%!
I guess the editor over at Politico needed to try to give Warren another boost….
Very few, if any , political media hide their efforts to promo Warren vs Biden horse race stories…
But the King piece is really ridiculous ….
Joe Biden HAS the black vote….
Period…
After struggling to win over black voters in the early stages of the primary, the Massachusetts senator appears to be gaining ground with a demographic that will play a pivotal role in determining the nomination.
A Quinnipiac University national poll last week showed Warren winning 19 percent of the African-American vote — a nine-point jump over the poll’s August results. In the latest Morning Consult poll, released Wednesday, she’s up by five percentage points with black voters since August.
Those advances have played a role in her surging overall numbers, which have seen Warren expand her lead over the African-American candidates in the primary — Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker — and even overtake Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders in some state and national polls.
“It’s certainly a dramatic shift that had to be noticed by the Biden campaign — and also Sanders, Harris and Buttigieg,” said Tim Malloy, Qunnipiac’s polling analyst. “Other [candidates] aren’t moving. And if they are, it’s in the wrong direction.”
Biden has long commanded an outsized portion of black voters, many of whom look favorably upon his service as vice president to President Barack Obama. In both the Quinnipiac and Morning Consult polls, Biden holds 40 percent of their support.
Warren, however, has faced doubts about her appeal to the party’s most loyal constituency. But months of outreach and targeted policy proposals appear to have made a mark….

Joe Biden is leading among Black voters presently.
It remains to be seen how this plays out however.
Certainly if Warren were to win Iowa and New Hampshire and continued to show strength in national polls ?That would likely result in her showing more support from Black voters.
Your problem is you seem to regard Bidens Black support as etched in stone. Its not.Like everything in the primary season it remains fluid and subject to the same dynamics .
CG says
Very fluid in that regard.
My expectation at the moment is that jack will vote for Warren in the SC primary.
My Name Is Jack says
Your expectation would be wrong.
Presently, I do not intend to vote for Warren.
My vote is not set in stone however and I may change my mind.
As I said above primary season is a very fluid time.
CG says
Yeah, I think you will wind up doing it even if you do not realize it now.
Scott P says
At least Jack will have a real live person on the ballot to choose from.
CG says
I’ll vote for a “real live person.” It’s somewhat unclear which party’s primary I will vote for though. The nomination contests for President may likely be over at that point.
Scott, did you vote for a “real live person” when you voted in the 2000 Missouri Senate race?
Scott P says
Touche. I did in fact for a corpse, along with the majority of my fellow Missourians. We figured that was preferable to a live John Ashcroft.

He, he , he
U trying to get a rise out of Jack CG???
jamesb says
Right NOW Jack?
Biden OWNS the Black vote…
The author backhands acknowledges it…
Warren continues to be the flavor of the month….
My other posts questions if she has peaked …
CG says
As a Progressive Democrat, and as a white male, do you not realize james what you sound like when you say “Biden OWNS the Black vote?”
Your friends here on the left should probably explain this to you.
CG says
Also, referring to a female Presidential candidate as the “flavor of the month” is looked down upon in 2019 among those who populate your party.
jamesb says
No problem CG….
He still owns it right now
CG says
Does Amtrak run to his Plantation?
My Name Is Jack says
Warren is arguably the leading candidate for the nomination ,depending upon which poll one chooses to believe.
Referring to one ,who has been steadily rising in the polls ,as a “flavor of the month” is foolish.
CG says
They’d be lining up around the block to taste some of her Strawberry Socialism ice cream.

Well there are all sorts of “predictions.”
For example ,you were quite vocal at one time in claiming that you wouldn’t vote for anyone who supported Donald Trump.
I will now predict that ,in the future ,you will vote for numerous Republicans who supported Donald Trump .
Indeed, in the future, you will likely vote for a Republican presidential candidate who, perhaps in wayward youth( former Illinois Cong.Henry Hyde famously once described the age of 40 as “youthful) , supported Donald Trump.
CG says
I said I hadn’t or I was speaking specifically of my upcoming voting situation in 2016 and 2018. Prediction upheld.
By the time I wind up voting for those people in the future, if I do, they are likely to have renounced having supported Trump in the past.
I will remind everyone that I was morally superior during my youth.
My Name Is Jack says
I seriously doubt that there will be wholesale denunciations of Trump in the future.Indeed,I think the “Trumpists,” under that name or something similar ,will remain a Force within the party.
Sort of like the “Religious Right.”
I am glad to see, however that your anti Trump persona has a finite existence. It will be good to see you and your “Trumpists” colleagues within the GOP one big happy family again.
CG says
I actually have no idea what the future holds for me politically. I should concern myself with long-term matters beyond politics. I do not expect though that Democrats will ever not look down on someone like me though, so I do not think they will ever be a viable option.
Trump is fairly unique in American politics. When it is over for him and the Republican Party, I think it will be really over, and he will be persona non grata. Those who will have nostalgia for his reign will either exist on the fringes or form their own party.
My Name Is Jack says
How do Democrats “ look down” on you?
CG says
Many, many ways. They certainly do not want someone like me in the party. They do not even give a thought to moderating their stances to appeal more to someone like me.
Instead you have Kirsten Gillibrand, who said as a Presidential candidate, with zero pushback that having a Pr0-Life stance is as morally evil as racism.
My Name Is Jack says
Well I don’t feel that way.
There are some anti abortion Democrats in S.C. whom I am friendly with .
I presume a liberal could say the same thing about Republicans.
I don’t regard that as “looking down “ on you.
I have said that you are an intelligent guy.We disagree on a lot of issues.Interestingly, however, awhile back when I published my general views on immigration ,you indicated that our views weren’t that far apart.
I don’t consider that you “look down”on me ,even if we disagree.
Indeed, you talk a lot on here about ending tribalism.I don’t disagree .
CG says
Yes, we probably agree on some things.
But the Democrats are just a very far left party and moving further to the left every year. South Carolina Democrats are but a bit player in the grand scheme of things.
There are literally dozens of Democrats running and when people like Delaney and Bennet and Bullock, who are all well to the left of me to start with, are going absolutely nowhere and in fact are considered a laughing-stock by the loudest voices in the party, it says all there is to say.
The difference between me and many others is that I never had an inkling to attach myself to Donald Trump simply to “belong” to the resistance against what the left is. I will resist on my own terms.
My Name Is Jack says
I would have no problem with any of them.
However, you do realize that your condemnation rings somewhat hollow coming from one who still identifies with a political party led by Donald Trump.
Trump laughs and openly disparages people like you far worse than any Democrat does.
CG says
I don’t know how you define “identify.”
I have actually gone to great lengths (some real, some symbolic to “de-identify.”)
For instance to this day I continue to use my valuable time to click unsubscribe to all the Republican generated emails I receive that in any way mention Trump or national politics.
What I cannot figure out is how to get the State of Illinois to allow me to get new license plates to replace the ones I have that contain “GOP”. I am not going to spend $300 to do that… at least not until 2021 if I have to.
My Name Is Jack says
I think every other poster here would “identify “you as a Republican.
Indeed, much of your talk today was about the Republican Party Post Trump.
Many of your posts are defensive of Republicans.
Your political positions for the most part are Republican oriented.
Yes,I identify you as a Republican.
CG says
Well, you doing so is not necessarily the same thing as me doing so.
Same as the other site. Some people there who might have or have known me for years as a Republican now identify me as a far left radical or a “Clinton Groupie” That doesn’t make them right either.
By the same token though, identifying me with Trump even in a second-hand guilty by association way is not accurate.
jamesb says
The view that the Democratic party is far left party is incorrect….
Democrats have NEVET ejected a ‘far left’ President and will NOT do so this time,…
The Liberal / Lefty thing is a GOP talking line….
The mainstream media in this country DOES. tend to be attracted to the lefties…But the majority of the parties vote is in the middle…
Clinton and Obana both courted the left for the primaries, but swung back to the middle for the nomination and the election…
Like the GOPer’s
Dem’s have a civil war going…
But the guy leading the polling IS a middle of the reader who is getting pulled slightly to the left for the primaries …
Believe me
As President Joe Biden IS gonna be bipartisan and comfortable as a centrist
Zreebs says
Democrats should be developing political solutions that effectively solve problems. They should not be developing solutions (such as supporting coal or assault Weapons) which might in some cases get them more votes, but only worsen our existing problems.
I would welcome CG in the Democratic Party. Although he doesn’t believe me, I often vote for Republicans. There is nothing wrong with splitting ones votes. In fact, that is what most people do. Anyone who consistently votes for the same party in local elections (in particulat) is voting for some incredibly horrible candidates.
My Name Is Jack says
Trumpists ,who presently control the Republican Party ,Likely think that you NeverTrumpers should form your own party.
CG says
I wish we could. Maybe one day that will happen. The GOP Civil War is still percolating.
My Name Is Jack says
I agree with that.
Further, I’m not as sure as you seem to be that the Trumpists will not predominate.Indeed, I don’t see Trump going quietly into that good night when his presidency ends.He loves the limelight too much to simply slink away.
CG says
He’s 73 years old and getting weaker politically every day. Even if he somehow wins a second term, we all know what usually happens with lame duck Presidents.
There will be people who try to imitate him in the future, but his shtick is basically his and his alone. I don’t think anyone will be able to duplicate him. (His eldest sons are not as talented and deep down I can tell his eldest daughter resents him. One day, she will probably author a best selling memoir explaining it)
Republicans will eventually have to realize the demographics of the country, etc and come to terms with the only possible ways they may be able to stay relevant long term.
My Name Is Jack says
A lawsuit has been filed by former Cong. Bob Inglis and another person against the S.C. Republican Party for canceling the Presidential primary.
The suit claims that the party violated its own rules and a state law which appears to require a party to abide by the rules.
Apparently a party rule says that only the State Party Convention can cancel aprimary. This cancellation was done by the State Executive Committee. There was no such action at the State Convention.
Since leaving Congress Inglis has become aort of a renegade ,frequently clashing with other Republicans and making negative comments about Trump.
jamesb says
Good for the guy!
CG says
Twenty years later and I still cannot get the campaign jingle “In the Big Bob Inglis Congress” out of my head. Dammit.
