The Democratic Party will hold a presidential primary debate on October 15, 2019. It is the fourth of 12 Democratic primary debates scheduled for the 2020 presidential election.
Candidates had until October 1, 2019, to qualify by reaching a grassroots fundraising threshold of 130,000 unique contributors and a polling threshold of 2 percent support or more in four eligible polls. For the full list of requirements, click here.
The debate was limited to 20 candidates. The following 12 candidates qualified for the debate:

Politico/Morning Consult: “Nearly a third of Democratic primary voters — 31% — expect Warren to perform the best during Tuesday’s debate. That’s up 12 points from the polling ahead of the September debate, when 19% of Democratic primary voters said they believed she would perform the best.”
“Twenty-five percent said they believed former Vice President Joe Biden would perform the best, followed by 12% for Sen. Bernie Sanders.”

Trump’s unsubstantiated attacks on Biden do not appear to have damaged him with Democratic voters. It is possible they have helped. A Fox News poll last week found 21 percent of Democrats say Trump’s claims about Biden and his son’s business dealings make them more likely to vote for Biden. Just 10 percent say they are less likely to. Thirty-one percent say they are less likely to vote for Sanders because of concerns about his health, compared to 15 percent who say they are more likely to.
Even before Sanders’ heart attack and Trump’s unloading on Biden on Ukraine, Elizabeth Warren’s surge in public opinion polls had become problematic for both Biden and Sanders….

She’s having some real problems. Everyone is going after her, except Castro, who must apparently think he has a deal to be her running mate.

With so many candidates on stage trying to shout over each other, Biden might just be able to skate by as an afterthought. He said he wanted to “eliminate the Capitol Gains tax” which likely got conservatives excited, then corrected himself to say he meant that he will raise it. Biden literally misspeaks every other sentence, but he might not have to speak all that much tonight.
Bernie looks healthy for Bernie standards.
Buttigieg and Klobuchar both went right after Warren and got her reeling. She is not used to being on the defensive. Beto went after her too just now but seemed a bit scared to do so.
Harris is looking increasingly desperate.
Biden says withdrawing troops from Syria was “worst mistake” in foreign policy any President has ever made.

Kamala Harris’s campaign has a slogan complete with placards and chants at rallies called “Dude Gotta Go.”
She just used it in the debate.
That has to be one of the most embarrassing gimmicks ever, They actually have signs with that saying.
Biden just used Bernie, standing next to him, as his prop to represent Vladimir Putin.
Bernie said, “are you accusing me of being Putin?” Biden laughed and said no. He should have said, “maybe Brezhnev.”
This debate is hilarious. Beto is answering a question about Russia and threw in some Spanish.
Beto and Pete are fighting about gun control (though I am not even sure what they are disagreeing about) by shooting daggers out of their eyes at each other.
It’s great that Bernie is feeling better after his heart attack. Last week, his 46 year old daughter in law died suddenly which is very sad. It doesn’t seem like his campaign has even commented on that.

Both northeast Senators. Both old. Both white. Plus if Warren leaves the Senate, Republicans gain the seat.
He’d pick Klobuchar before Warren and might be smart to do so.
Tougher night for Bryce Harper.
Do I try to catch the post-debate spin or do I seek out the online lamentations of St. Louis Cardinals fans?
I’m amazed Washington won the pennant. After Harper left, I figured they would finish fourth.
The first time the Cubs played the Nationals this year was in May in DC, and that team looked horrible. Their manager Davey Martinez (bench coach for the WS Champion Cubs) was very close to being fired. Then, the Cubs played them at home months later and they looked like a machine.
Then, the Nationals were so close to losing to Milwaukee in the Wild Card game and got a crazy break and won. Then, it looked like they were mismatched with the Dodgers, and beat them. Then, they sweep the Cardinals. Baseball can be full of surprises.
Wherever Charles Krauthammer, one of their most ardent fans is, he must have some serious clout.
If I combine the two, I think I caught a bit of Amy Klobuchar on MSNBC talking trash to panelist Claire McCaskill about her Cardinals losing. Then, Amy remembered she’s not supposed to be from DC and is really a Twins fan.
It’s occurring to me how much tonight Biden resembles a slimmer version of a 76 year old Spiro Agnew.
Let’s not mention what happened to Agnew when he turned 77. It’s a good thing Biden is trimmer.
I don’t know if he has been “untouched.” It’s more like the others thing that Warren is the one they have to worry about at this point.
If he is “untouched”, it would be smart for him not to touch anyone leaving the stage.
The President Of the United States even being on Twitter is “sad.”
Klobuchar is having a good night? Will it matter?
Needless to say I find so much of what is being said tonight absolutely repugnant (except when they go after Trump or in limited cases express sympathy for the Kurds).
I can’t vote for any of these people. It’s a good thing I am so stubborn on despising Trump because I can definitely imagine people in America who have negative thoughts about Trump watching this and saying, “well, guess we have to vote for the SOB again.”
A pretty good Republican apologia for supporting a “psychopath.”
Oh but CG will vote for Bloomberg, or Oprah, or a drafted John Kasich running as a Democratic Party endorsed Republican Independent.
He speaks for himself. And he’s not a serious voter–despite all the “prognostication” he’ll make between now and next November.
Any voter is a “serious voter.” You already know I am not voting for Trump, despite all your conspiracy theories that I am in some sort of secret Trumpist society. I was expressing a viewpoint though that many, many people do feel right now, whether I agree with them or not, or whether you guys like it or not.
I’d at least be open to considering Bloomberg or Oprah as the Democrat nominee. Would have to have some basic questions answered first though.
