He’s MY choice….
But lately?
I’m beginning to think that Donald Trump may just prove me wrong and get a second term, which would be a disaster for American and the World…(No impeachment conviction…Warren being the nominee from the left)
Joe Biden still leads the Democratic group running fo0r the Presidential nomination…
But by smaller and smaller margins….
Why?
Several reasons….
Trump is lying about his kid and THAT HAS muddied the waters…
Elizabeth Warren is getting ride in the media…
Yes…
Joe Biden is a nice guy….
So nice that he hates to REALLY go after people…
Joe Biden would be a good President…
Same was for Hillary Clinton…
But?
Ya gotta BECOME President first…
If Joe Biden CANNOT figure out how to deal with the above ?
He doesn’t NEED to be President, a job that will be MUCH Harder than running for it…
He’s gonna have to push back HAREDER against Trump’s lies and going around the world trying strong arm foreign leaders to do his dirty work against Biden and his son…
He’s gonna have to figure out a way to compete with Elizabeth Warren , who does have the media on her side…’Charm’ one would think , isn’t gonna be the way…
He’s gonna have to win either Iowa or New Hampshire and the Nevada contests….
South Carolina and Super Tuesday will be fine if he can get his act together ….
Ms. Warren has emerged as Mr. Biden’s most formidable competition, Mr. Sanders, her main challenger for progressive support, just had a heart attack, casting uncertainty over whether he could siphon votes from Ms. Warren, as the Biden camp had hoped.
Even before last week, Mr. Biden’s advisers were acknowledging to donors that he may well lose both of the leadoff nominating contests in Iowa and New Hampshire.
His communications aides contend that most voters were more focused on what Mr. Trump did to prompt the impeachment inquiry than on the false claims themselves. And they pointed to the former vice president’s forceful attacks on Mr. Trump at a news conference Friday to argue that he was now ready to do battle with the president.
“This guy like all bullies is a coward,” Mr. Biden said. “He does not want to run against me.”
On Thursday, Mr. Biden, whose inner monologue rarely remains repressed, gave voice to the tension he is struggling with as he spoke at a fund-raiser in Palo Alto, Calif.
Recalling the difficulty Hillary Clinton had in confronting Mr. Trump’s campaign style, Mr. Biden worried about being “sucked into the trap of the stuff that Trump was laying. He wants you in a mud fight.”…
…
While Mr. Biden’s team has done little polling in the race, he is expected to conduct a survey of Iowa Democrats next week on the Ukraine issue ahead of a new advertising push in the state.
Mr. Biden has begun to escalate his attacks on the president, and his campaign began airing a commercial hitting back at the president for trying to “pick his opponent and face only the candidates he thinks he can beat.” Still, there is no final consensus, in Mr. Biden’s camp, about how consistently he should confront Mr. Trump.
“He’s never gone negative,” said William M. Daley, the former White House chief of staff, who worked on Mr. Biden’s 1988 campaign. “That’s not him, that’s the charm of Joe.”…

“This is either the beginning of the end, or the moment where they flip the switch and it all comes together,” said one Democratic fundraiser who supports Biden. “But the signs are not pointing in a good direction right now.”
Trump’s Ukraine scandal has become a major drag on Biden’s campaign, leaving allies split over the best way forward….

Leading donors for Joe Biden convened this weekend for their first donor retreat since he announced his candidacy and struck a determined posture as Mr. Biden’s campaign found itself under assault from President Trump, losing its clear front-runner status and lapped in the money chase by multiple Democratic rivals, most notably Senator Elizabeth Warren,” the New York Times reports.
“Over cocktails on Friday evening and a Saturday spent in a drab hotel conference room, Mr. Biden’s top financiers and fund-raisers received strategy briefings and PowerPoint presentations, and plotted the path forward for the former vice president, who suddenly found himself in fourth place….

James,
Who wrote the article “Joe Biden needs to get his shot together”? When I click on “more”, I get a different article.

Joe Biden reminds me of Hillary in several ways: 1) He has relatively few campaign appearences, and when he does, they are sparsely attended, 2) His campaign is more about “Donald Trump is bad” then about what he wants to accomplish, 3). He appears to be targeting big donors instead of the people who struggle to earn a living. 4) He doesn’t make himself readily available to the media
I see him as different that Hillary in several ways though.
1) I would think that Biden really does like campaigning. He seems to connect with people when he does. He is a more “likeable” candidate than Hillary – who acted like having a personality was a bad thing. My best guess is that Biden’s old age is preventing him from an aggressive campaign schedule.
2) I see Biden as someone (like Obama) who doesn’t Have a hint of corruption. With Hillary there was Whitewater, personally benefitting from the Clinton Foundation, the private server, closed door meetings with Goldman Sachs in which she “earned” over $100k per meeting, etc. With Biden, I don’t think he has a corrupt bone in his body. Trump may try to paint Biden as corrupt, but there is no corruption there.
3) I don’t think that Biden has the intellectual capacity of Hillary- who has an IQ of a genius. Hillary could think on her feet better than Biden, and she would never answer a question about race reparations by talking about a record player or including “I don’t have any time left” in her answer.
The Democrats can do better than Biden. The issues he has would become more exposed once it becomes a two person race. I think Biden probably would still win, and if course he is a far superior person than Trump – who is as close to pure evil as anyone I ever met.

Hey Z?
You mind if I make a post out your Biden/Hillary comparisons ?
I REALLY agree with ya insight on them…

If Biden wins either Iowa or New Hampshire,I think he will win S.C.I have been saying that for awhile.
If he doesn’t?Then he will have a tough time in S.C.
As far as the race tightening?I tried to tell you back in the summer that the early polls you were rhapsodic about reflect name recognition more than anything else. They were going to tighten anyway with or without Ukraine with Biden naturally slowing slippage.
Warren is moving up mainly because she is running the best campaign.
Indeed, one can say,the campaign is really starting now.
Sanders may not recover from his heart attack.Buttigieg is raisinga lot of money.Harris has faded but still has apath back in S.C. if Biden falters. These are just some of the dynamics in play presently.

I agree with all of this. I don’t think the Ukraine issue will have any significant effect on whether Biden wins the nomination. If anything, it might help him because it is an outrageous charge, and it gives credence to the idea that Trump is afraid of him.
jamesb says
Yes the Ukraine caper COULD help Biden I think…
But as with Hillary and the emails?
Trumpo IS gonna keep this running as a festering saw on him…
He MUST find away to deal with it….
jamesb says
I also agree with Jack….
The polls ALWAYS tighten and Yes….
Warren IS run-in g a good campaign….
But I add what I posted here….
Warren appeals and IS making a effort to connect to the media that others simply do NOT have…
Only Trump does it better and he does it from the opposite…
I address Warren and the media HERE…
