The Democratic nomination leader is dealing with a challenger for the Democratic nomination and guy who thinks he’ll be running against him possibly next November in the general election…
Biden’s campaign will probably be shaken for the first three states….
But after Nevada?
Biden should have clear sailing for the nomination…
Joe Biden’s campaign is ramping up its investment in the Super Tuesday states, anticipating a Democratic race that narrows to two candidates by early March.
The increase in staffing across the 14 states that will vote March 3 comes as Biden’s polling numbers have declined and Elizabeth Warren’s have surged, particularly in states like Iowa and New Hampshire where she’s heavily invested in field organization.
The former vice president’s campaign is still counting on strong finishes in the four early nominating states. But in the event of weaker-than-expected performances, a built-out Super Tuesday organization would provide a fail-safe for Biden.
The Super Tuesday focus also serves as an insurance policy against Warren, in particular, since her appeal to white, liberal voters could mean strong finishes in places like Iowa and New Hampshire — which, in turn, could propel her momentum through Nevada and South Carolina and into the next stage of the primary.
Central to the Biden campaign’s theory is the belief that, after the Feb. 29 primary in South Carolina, the now-sprawling Democratic field would be narrowed to just two candidates. And one of them — Biden — would be far better positioned to amass delegates on a primary date that offers a windfall of roughly 1,300.
By contrast, in the four early-state contests only 155 delegates are up for grabs.
“If history is any guide, this will likely be a two-person race coming out of South Carolina, and whomever emerges from Super Tuesday with a significant delegate lead will be extremely difficult to catch,” a senior Biden official said….
Donald Trump must believe the same thing since he rarely mentions Elizabeth Warren abut goes after Joe Biden several times a week….And has been trying to get political dirt on Biden for awhile…
Hours after U.S. President Donald Trump described him as “stone-cold crooked,” Joe Biden, a leading Democratic contender in the 2020 race for the White House, vowed on Wednesday the Republican president is “not going to destroy me.”
“Let me make something clear to Trump and his hatchet men and the special interests funding his attacks against me,” Biden said in prepared remarks distributed by his campaign in advance of an appearance in Reno, Nevada, on Wednesday night.
“I’m not going anywhere. You’re not going to destroy me. And you’re not going to destroy my family. I don’t care how much money you spend or how dirty the attacks get,” said Biden, who leads in most opinion polls among the 19 Democrats seeking their party’s nomination to face Trump in next year’s election.
The back-and-forth came as Trump, first in a series of tweets and then at a news conference, angrily denounced an impeachment inquiry concerning a July call in which Trump asked Ukraine’s president to investigate Biden and his son Hunter, who served on the board of a Ukrainian company while his father was vice president….
