The former US Attorney in New York says he knew nothing about being under investigation….
Either he’s NOT telling the truth or he’s living in another dimension…
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are reportedly investigating President Trump‘s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani‘s business dealings in Ukraine.
Sources familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal Monday that witnesses have been questioned since at least August about Giuliani in the investigation into his work for a Ukrainian city mayor, his finances and meetings relating to the country.
The investigation includes any involvement Giuliani may have had in the alleged campaign finance-related charges his business associates Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman were indicted on last week, CNN reported.
The investigation of Giuliani’s bank records and business dealings in Ukraine shows the amount of attention investigators are placing on analyzing his interactions with the country, the news outlet reported.
The Journal’s report expanded on reports last week that indicated federal prosecutors are examining whether the president’s personal lawyer broke federal lobbying laws.
When CNN asked Giuliani if he knew of prosecutors looking into other parts of his Ukraine business dealings, he responded, “No l don’t think they are but my bank records are fine.”
Giuliani was named as a central figure in the whistleblower report that has now sparked an impeachment inquiry of Trump in the House…..

A new piece in Political Wire notes that impeachment could end Susan Collins career. I’ve been saying this started that theres s good chance this causes her to retire.
Keith says
I agree Scott, in fact I just sent that story to James to see if he might post it. Her numbers are going south fast in Maine and I think she might be headed for K Street.
She certainly is a two-faced politician and I think the folks in Maine have had enough. I would suspect Corey Gardner would go the same way.
Interesting that there are 15 Republican Senators who were there when Clinton was impeached. 14 of them voted to convict Clinton over lying about a blow job (the only hold out, Collins). What will those 14 now do if they are asked to vote to convict Trump?? I bet I can guess.

Collins Post coming up….
CG says
Does it really make sense to simply rely on PPP for this? They are notorious for push polls at this stage in the game. They are paid by clients and have an agenda.
This is the same sort of thinking that had people here declaring in recent cycles that John McCain and Chuck Grassley were about to lose… because Scott still thinks that PoliticalWire does not have a bias and because you get bamboozled by PPP which is designed to generate fundraising.
CG says
If you are going to erase my posts james, then make sure this one stays in the Collins story,
jamesb says
U had a dupe….
CG says
That shouldn’t be a big deal, but if it is, you can take it out of this thread and leave it as the first comment in the other thread about Collins.
jamesb says
PPP IS a Dam House…
But then Rasmussen IS a GOP house and BOITH get mentioned….
CG says
No, whatever you think of Rasmussen, they do not have an association with any campaign or organization, unlike PPP.
The other major difference with PPP is that they do what are called “push polls” as in…. “well, what if this…..” They fish for a specific result.

CG doesn’t like a Democratic Poll?
Astonishing!
CG says
It’s not even an actual poll since they only release the data of her against a “Generic Democrat” (which means she had a solid lead over the actual names of the Democrat candidates)
We have been down this road before though… John McCain can’t win, Chuck Grassley can’t win, etc. etc. They wind up winning easily.
CG says
Also, I would bet money that Susan Collins would vote to convict Trump in the Senate.
My Name Is Jack says
She probably would, although that would be a two edged sword.
A lot of Paul Lepage Republicans would likely desert here.
I wouldn’t write her off yet, but is she one of the most vulnerable Republican incumbents?
For sure.
CG says
Paul LePage has actually been friends with her for decades, despite their very different politics and styles, and he has reportedly warned off primary challengers from running against her.
CG says
She’s about the 5th most vulnerable GOP seat, and probably the 7th overall.
As the old axiom goes you can’t beat somebody with nobody.
There is no Gen. Eric Democrat ready to hang up his medals and run against her.
My Name Is Jack says
Yeah that’s all well and good.
You let her vote to remove Trump from office and all that “friendship” will go out the window quickly.
My Name Is Jack says
She’s vulnerable.
Fifth , fourth ,third?
Eh?
jamesb says
Collins WILL vote to support Trump no matter what in the end…..
Democratic Socialist Dave says
And, how exactly do you know that, James ?
Mere assertion doesn’t cut it.
