Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced Wednesday that the Food and Drug Administration is finalizing plans to pull all flavored e-cigarette cartridges from the market, leaving only the tobacco flavor, in an effort to discourage youth vaping.
Why it matters: The non-tobacco flavors — including mango, fruit and mint — are at the center of a dramatic rise in youth vaping that has schools and parents on widespread alert.
I am very negatively inclined towards any sort of tobacco use, but this seems like a drastic overreach by the federal government. Pulling these products entirely from the market means that adults cannot use them either. How can libertarian leaning conservatives think this is ok?
Frankly, there would be more solid ground for pulling “fruity tasting” alcoholic beverages, but I think that would be wrong too.
This is all going on where marijuana is becoming more standard and more and more places are legalizing it for recreational use, including all sorts of edibles, that taste like other things, and will be popular among minors.
If there is some sort of other safety issue for the FDA to look into with vaping products because of the recent spat of deaths, that is a different matter.
That would relate to the entire thing though not just certain flavors because the government wants to discourage use.
Most of those who have died from vaping though were vaping marijuana though.

To be fair, if Trump smoked a cigarette, Democrats would be up in arms. They excused Obama for doing it though. He had a tough job after all and needed to relieve stress.
