With Donald Trump not looking good for a re-election in the polls?
Republicans are thinking about insurance should a Democrat US House and President is something they will face in 2021…
While the early thought was the Republicans did NOT have to worry about holding their majority ion the Senate?
Retirements, softening economy and Trump’s mouth could be prove them wrong….
The GOP majority in the Senate is shaping up as a firewall for Republicans who are worried that President Trump might falter and lose the White House next year.
Republicans see winning back the House majority as a tough climb in 2020, and head-to-head matchups between Trump and various Democratic presidential contenders show the president behind his potential challengers.
Though Republicans overall are optimistic about Trump’s reelection prospects, they see holding the Senate, where they have a 53-47 edge, as crucial given the shape of races for the White House and lower chamber. And they’re playing their cards accordingly.
“If we lose the presidency — and if I had to guess right now, the odds are 10 percent we get the House back — the Senate is the only check and balance,” said one former Republican Senate chief of staff. “If we don’t keep the Senate, we’re basically screwed. I hate to just cut to the chase, but that is exactly what the [National Republican Senatorial Committee] is running with.”….

Previous losing nominees like Bob Dole and Walter Mondale allowed tbe party to shift focus to saving vulnerable House and Senate seats.
It’s far too early to predict Trump being in the sane situation a year from now bit it’s impossible to see him being gracious enough to allow down ballot Republicans to distance themselves from him. In fact if they are seen as doing that he will likely berate them publicly

Donald Trump is about HIMSELF….
Fuck the party….

Stay tuned for MORE jabs from Trump….
President Trump dismissed three potential Republican presidential primary challengers — former Reps. Mark Sanford (R-SC) and Joe Walsh (R-IL) as well as former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld (R) — as “Three Stooges” as he gears up for his reelection campaign in 2020….

Actually,in some ways, he is right.
They aren’t serious candidates for the presidency. They have no chance at the nomination.
I wouldn’t refer to them that way but that is the way Trump talks and Republicans seem to enjoy that type rhetoric.

Last night CG floated the idea that Trump would cancel or rig GOP primarues.
While I don’t doubt Trump has the same dictator like qualities of those who cancel elections it’s ludicrous to think Trump would cancel Republican primaries against these three.
The GOP is overwhelmingly behind Trump and to Trump the GOP base is America.
When he wins these primaroes going away he will claim they are the biggest electoral victories in history.

The Trump controlled RNC is already doing it.

Of course Trump is all about himself and will attack Republicans who distance themselves from him! My gusss is that most Trump supporters would even agree with that statement.
But most Republican lawmakers go along with Trump because they too lack principles – and it is all about themselves. How else do you explain a party that chooses to ignore climate change, that chooses to support a tax cuts without corresponding spending cuts, that insists on plastic straws, that supports voter suppression, Russian interference in our elections, and inhune treatment of refugee children?
