    • Pelosi’s approval percentage has climbed almost 5% points……

      The Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s approval number is actually within 3% points of Donald Trump’s!

    • Corbyn has written to the other parties in the UK to ask that they vote no confidence and make him temporary Prime Minister while the election plays out. Not sure that he’ll be appointed temporary anything, but I am sure there will be an election sooner than later. I expect a vote of no confidence soon given the cockup Boris has turned out to be, tells more lies than Trump. This should make our vacation to the UK (soon to be England) even more interesting.

      I read where the Democrats are hoping for a further stock market decline to increase their chances of winning next year. Well this Democrat isn’t, and no Democrat I know is either, even in their private conversations. But, it is important to point out that the stock market always does better under Democratic Administrations than Republican ones.

      Once again, the only way to stop this madness is to elect a Democrat next year, any Democrat over this disaster. The Republicans certainly aren’t going to do anything about it.

      • So true Keith. My 401K was pretty much non existent after the Bush years. Why would I want to go back to what happened to it in 2007-2008?.

        If a downturn does occur though you are dann straight I will point out that Republicans were in charge when it did. I’m sure the TrumpRepublicans will claim it’s not realy the fault of their leader and his turtle lackey–but instead was caused by Bill Maher and other Ameeican citizens who “rooted” for it.

        Republicans are still owned by the NRA, despite it’s recent difficulties, and the “base” needs these assault weapons to fight the big bad “guvmint,” even though they control it at the present.

        Never know when them damn “libruls” gonna take over or that “deep state” or….

      • An odd reflection, perhaps, of an Alaska-Hawaii axis since they became (and maybe before) they both achieved statehood in 1959.

        One of the tacit deals was that Alaska’s Senators and Representative would defer to Hawaii over control of native-Hawaiian lands and land trusts, while Hawaii’s Senators and Representatives would vote Alaska’s way on consevation and development.

        For example Hawaii’s two liberal Democratic Senators, Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka, were (I think) the only Democratic votes against an Alaska Arctic Wildlife Refuge when the Senate was very evenly divided.

    Contrary to the continued efforts here to convince that Trumps approval among GOPers is declining,as with his overall approval ratings ,this number remains remarkably stable in the mid to high Eighties,often approaching 90% ,as it has throughout his Presidency.

    It’s too bad that a mere commenter has to submit the facts here because the moderator prefers to deal ,in a very Trumpian manner ,by making claims that are demonstrably untrue.

    What you don’t seem to understand is the difference between “disapproval” and voting.

    I will attempt to explain it to you,a difficult job in and of itself.

    Just because 13% or so “disapprove “ of Trump doesnt necessarily mean they won’t vote for him.We have already seen the phenomenon of people who personally detest him still voting for him.Such Indeed accounted for his victory in 2016.

    So the question is will Republicans who “disapprove “ of him vote for him against any of the Democratic possibilities.The anecdotal evidence is that they will.For example, check CGs old haunt HHR ,a hotbed Of Pro Trump sentiment.There you will see posters who openly mock Trump in one post, while conceding that they will still vote for him.

    You seemingly don’t understand that ,so let’s see if we can bring it closer to home.I don’t “approve” of Bernie Sanders and would so state to a pollster;however, would I vote for him in preference to Trump?Sure I would.See James do you understand this rather elementary concept?

    How about you?We all know of your strong dislike of “lefties;”yet, there is at least a 50% chance that one will end up the Democratic nominee.What are you going to do?

    This approval/disapproval shtick is of very limited value in assessing how one will actually vote.0So,while you wallow in counting these irrelevant tenths of a percent here and there ,while trying to make a “point” you don’t even understand, I will state that,as of now, No ,I would not be at all surprised to see Trump garner 90% + Of the Republican vote.

  9. Sen. Tim Scott said yesterday at a political event in S.C. that he will seek reelection in 2022 and that it would be his last political race.

    Scott said ,when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term in 2014 ,that he supported term limits and would serve only two full terms after the unexpired term he was filling seemed to foreclose any future political races after leaving the Senate.

    When asked if he was going to run for Governor,of which there had been much speculation he simply answered”,No.”

  10. In Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway (D) officially joined the gubernatorial race today.

    She faces an uphill battle to knock off half term Governor Mike Parson, but certainly not impossible.

    Even as the Show Me State has trended Republican in presidential politics the GOP have only won 2 governor’s races in the past 30 years.

    • I agree with most of CGs post.

      Where he and I likely disagree most is that I hold the Republican Party more responsible for Trump than he does.

      He essentially adopts the position that he “understands” Republican politicians supporting Trump because they agree with his policy positions and his judicial appointments..He generally asserts that most of them don’t “like” Trump but feel politically they must go along with him lest they risk a primary challenge.Thats probably true.

      Now I have actual remembrance of six Republican Presidents,Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan and the two Bushes.None Of Them ,even everyone’s favorite villain Nixon, would have conducted himself remotely like this character,nor,in my view, would the Republicans of those days put up with it.

      Today’s Republicans?Not only are they putting up with it,they are affirmatively supporting him , whatever their “reasons.”

      CGs analysis explains their behavior.It doesn’t excuse it and, in my view, in many ways those who practice it are just as despicable as Trump.

      There is something more important than tax cuts, deregulation and judges ,etc…..

      Common decency.

          At the time of Epstein’s death, Bill and Hillary Clinton were actually both in my hometown of Arlington Heights, IL They were spotted the night before at some local spots.

          (They were in town for the memorial service of Betsy Eberling, who lived in Arlington Heights, and was Hillary Clinton’s best friend from childhood.)

      But in the past Democrats have stay away from gun issues to NOT antagonize the gun people, who DO come out a vote single issue…

      He says he can deal with them…
      I doubt he’ll cross them with his approval numb ears and need for their support next year…

      • Maybe Congressional and local Democratic candidates in swing districts will try to dodge the gun issue,

        However, I think Presidential candidates will continue to talk about the issue.Why not?The Democratic base is in favor of most gun control measures that are being bandied about.

        As for single issue gun voters?They are almost all going to support Trump anyway so there is no real downside for aDemocratic presidential candidate.

        I have already opined that likely no serious gun legislation will result from the latest tragedies.
