They split the Democratic Progressive/Left vote….
As the race narrows down to the top three candidates?
There is only but so much of a vote that goes around….
And neither of other two are gonna drop out….
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are both attracting large crowds as they try to build a movement to transform the U.S. — but they’re standing in each other’s way.
Underneath the niceties — the two mostly agree on the issues and refuse to attack each other — are growing tensions among their allies and supporters as each makes a case to carry the progressive mantle. If no clear choice emerges, it could split the liberal wing and end up helping moderate Joe Biden, who is leading in most polls as they’re locked in a tight battle for second…..

New Open Thread is HERE…
I mentioned earlier that if Joe Walsh ran for President he would likely have to give up his radio show.
Apparently that has happened. After this “ candidacy”meets its inevitable end,Joe can probably land a gig with CNN or MSNBC as an anti Trump Republican.
i saw that also on the radio show…
but him and the Mooch are all over the media anyways…
The guy they have to replace Walsh (at least in Chicago) is far more bombastic and combative than Walsh ever was. He was a frequent caller into that radio station who is now going to get his own show, He sounded like a right-wing version of Keith, even down to calling everyone fat (including Queen Elizabeth).
He hates establishment Republicans immensely but was really going after Trump on tariffs, so it looks like he is going to fill the same right-wing anti-Trump niche.
Your “analysis” above is naive in the extreme .
If either or both were to lose four or five primaries in a row?Of course one or both may drop out.
We all have seen this show before.Candidates assure us they are in the race to the end.Tyey start losing primaries.Their money dries up.They announce they are “reevaluating their candidacy. They “suspend “ their campaign with optimistic platitudes and then?Theyre gone.
To make a statement like you just did,”And neither of the other two(Warren and Sanders) is going to drop out “ is pure tripe and reflects nothing more than your “wish” that doesn’t happen so as to help your candidate, Biden.
Jack?
Sanders and Warren ARE STRONG second and thirds ….There is NO reason for either to drop out….
Hence i DO believe the statement in the head of this post…
I’ll go farther….
This is probably Warren’s lock on the VP spot…..
I know i could be wrong…
But i could be right…
WTF…..
Bottom line is that if one of them drops out, it’s over for Biden.
It would make for more sense, for a lot of reasons, if Sanders dropped out.
I said many times during the last cycle and I maintain today that the last time around, had Sanders gotten out in favor of Elizabeth Warren, she would have beaten Hillary for the nomination (and would probably be President today.)
Warren has a major problem with southern Blacks
In some polls she has but low single digit support among them.
the key word for ya CG is ‘if’..…
It did NOT happen nor is is likely to happen this time with Sanders running SECOND in most of the polling…..
If she finishes in front of him in Iowa and New Hampshire, even Bernie’s most ardent (non-sexist) supporters will be calling on him to exit the race so Warren can take the nomination,
By the way, one area where Bernie Sanders had more sense and honesty than Warren (and Kamala Harris) was that he did not follow them in referring to the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO as a “murder.”
Upon that anniversary, it was horrible that Warren and Harris would say something so completely fact-challenged and run the risk of inflaming racial tensions.
The death of Michael Brown was of course tragic in many ways, but he was not murdered, That was the conclusion of the Obama Justice Department and announced by Attorney General Eric Holder.
The actual facts of the incident confirmed that the police officer who shot Brown acted in self-defense. As it relates to this case, “hands up, don’t shoot” was a myth, and distracts from other legitimate cases of police misconduct. It is beyond acceptable to call the police officer a murderer when he was completely exonerated both by local investigations and by the Obama Justice Department.
Again?
I see NO reason for EITHER. to quit before Super Tuesday at which time , barring something crazy ?….Biden should have the nomination lead that would be insurmountable ….
Wishful thinking on your part.
If either Sanders or Warren beats the other in the first two states and especially if they are the chief opponent of Biden (who for all we know may have already flamed out by then), then there will be much pressure for the lesser successful one to leave.
So much speculation in what will happen in the Democratic primaries. What about the GOP contest?
That’s far easier to predict (and thus more boring) unless the Mooch is right and Trump quits.
For the most part, there may not even be primaries on the Republican side. Some are truly attempting to rig the process.
Why would Trump cancel primaries he would win running away?
The idea that the Republican npmination process would need to be rigged for Trump to win is ludicrous. He is more popular with the GOP base than Reagan was.
Anybody here think Trump is just gonna up and quit before Jan. 20, 2021?
Why do Castro, Putin, and Kim Jung Un do it?
Excellent question…..
It HAS to be rough for the bottom group….
And we KNOW it’s tough for the top people…
But they have company all the time with them eh?
Used to say they get bitten by the Presidential ‘bug’
Now?
If Trump can get the job?
Why not them?
Heck?…Me or U could do better then Donald Trump, eh?

Former Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) wants to make a comeback, and is eyeing a path that would put him head-on with embattled Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), Politico reports.
“The California Republican has launched an exploratory committee, according to a website that recently touted his PAC but has since been updated to say that he’s pondering a run for the state’s 50th Congressional District given ‘a tremendous outpouring of encouragement from supporters inside the district, and around the state and across the Nation.’”….

Good comedic relief Scott….
Why would they do THAT CG?
They both think they CAN win….
Why would they drop out before Super Tuesday?
Your view make no sense….
There hasn’t been a primary held yet.
Of course there is no reason to drop out.
You either purposefully twisted what I said or ,more than likely , didn’t even understand it.
Whichever, your response had nothing to do with my post.
Joe Biden said in response to a question that he would prefer a woman of color as his running mate.
yup…..
we discussed THAT yesterday….
makes sense….
i would go with Warren
NOT
Harris
I remember a few short months ago that you were pushing the line that we “needed” Warren in the Senate while essentially opposing almost every thing the woman did.
Now?You want her to be VP so a Republican can appoint her successor,
It’s stuff like this that cause most of the posters here to doubt your seriousness.Instead you come across as a guy who just says the first thing that comes to him on any given day.
Polling update tonight….
There was little love last night at the S.C. Republican gala ,headlined by VP Mike Pence, for former Gov. Mark Sanford.
Sanford ,who is mulling a race against Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination ,was frequently cat called and had Trump campaign signs shoved toward his face.
Didn’t seem to faze him though ,as he insisted he was still “considering “the race.
Sanfords gambit has been overshadowed of late by the entrance of Joe Walsh into the race.
Whoa???
Pence FOR SANFORD?????
I think I understand what jack was trying to say, but I am at a loss why Sanford would even go to that event.
It was a gala and Pence was the lead Speaker.Sanford attended for what reason I don’t know.
Sanford did say the other day that even though he was vigorously opposed to Trump,he would still ,as a Republican ,vote for him over any of the Democratic candidates.
I presume Sanford’s attendance may have been to burnish his Republican bona fides.
For some reason, he feels the need to be more loyal to a political party than he was to his wife.
A federal judge struck down (at least temporarily) the Missouri abortion ban that was to take effect tomorrow. It was one of the strictest babs in the nation.
This is no unexpected…How couldvit’s members support Trump?….
Jerri Ann Henry, the executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans, has resigned following a controversial decision by the organization’s board to endorse President Trump, the Washington Blade reports.
Henry told CNN: “Log Cabin was once a civil rights organization with conservative principles. That’s why I joined on. Now it’s mostly about happy hours.”

Hilarious article over at Mediaite concerning Trump sycophant Brian Kilmeade and Trump himself over the latters criticism of Fox News
Who would have ever thought that we would see the day when the President of the United States would engage a television “news” entertainer over essentially the nature of their friendship.
Hell .who ever thought we would see the day that aPresident of the United States would regularly “call in” to talk with his “friends “ on a live tv entertainment program?
Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade confronted Donald Trump on his recent tweets attacking Fox News by suggesting that the president’s disagreements with friends “never used to bother” him so much.
“I know you were critical of Fox yesterday,” said Kilmeade on Thurdsay while interviewing the president on his radio show, during which Trump again slammed Fox News over their polls that have been favorable to Democrats lately. “So you were very upset.”
Here’s the Mediaite link….
“Sean and Laura and Tucker are all good…well Tucker cam be tricky but that’s OK”

Morning People…
RCP has NO changes in the polling averages….
They do NOT add in ALL of the major polling reports and they DO lean a bit to the right…..
But Trump’s approval IS trending down in their graphic….
Trump has tweeted support of an idea by Steve Forbes and Grover Norquist to…you guessed it, cut taxes for the wealthy.
More proof that Trump is a natural leader f0r the Republican Party. A party that considers lowering the wealthy’s tax burden to be priority number 1 at all times.
They’ve been talking about that for a few….
It won’t pass the House…
But I look at it as a last ditch attempt to make more money for the rich before Trump leave the stage and the Senate possibly goes 50/50….
Election Projection today….
Instead of talking about more tax cuts for the wealthy ,we should be talking about canceling the Trump Republican Tax Giveawy Of 2017,aka Paul Ryan’s Folly.
Yes indeed Jack….
But you know GOPer’s frame any effort to do so as raising taxes….
Scott, Steve Forbes and his brother works in my building. I see them often. Steve often works late hours and often brings his lunch to work. He is a personable and friendly guy, but he is a big Trump supporter. Considering his extreme wealth, his suits don’t look any better than mine, and his hair is often disheveled.
Old money don’t need to show it..
Remember Steve Forbes presidential campaigns in 1996 and 2000?
His big issue was red flat tax.If memory serves, everyone ,including billionaires, would pay the same percentage of income in taxes, around 17%.Forbes was oblivious to the unfairness of such ,but some Republicans embraced it.He even won a primary or two I think.
He came across as very uncomfortable campaigning and was an awkward public speaker. In the early days of FoxNews he hosted a show dedicated to the stock market.
Forbes hosted SNL after he dropped out of the Presidential race. He wore a mullett and played a roofer in 9ne sketch.
The mass shootings will keep occurring unabated…
It IS the American Way …..
Multiple people including a police officer were reported to have been shot Saturday at a movie theater and on a highway in West Texas. At least five people were reportedly killed.
The Midland Police Department wrote initially on Facebook that officers were searching for two suspects along Interstate 20 in Texas. Subsequent reports indicated that only one shooter may have been involved in shootings in multiple locations….
The Hill…..
Update….
— At least five people were dead after a gunman who hijacked a postal service vehicle in West Texas shot more than 20 people, authorities said Saturday. The gunman was killed and three law enforcement officers were among the injured.
The shooting began with a traffic stop where gunfire was exchanged with police, setting off a chaotic afternoon during which the suspect hijacked a U.S. Postal Service vehicle and began firing at random in the area of Odessa and Midland, hitting multiple people. Cell phone video showed people running out of a movie theater, and as Odessa television station KOSA aired breaking developments on live TV, their broadcast was interrupted by police telling them they had to clear the area.Update ,….

The prediction for Charleston presently is that Dorian will pass about 75-100 miles off the coast as a Cat. 1 or 2.Heavy rain and winds of up to 50 mph are forecast.
I’m not worried though .Sen. Rick Scott(InTheCult-Fla.) says that Trump is receiving regular updates while he’s playing golf.Makes me feel a Hell Of a lot better!
Get ready to hunker down Jack….
I hope the Carolina’s come thru in good shape….
I’ve ridden out many hurricanes,including Hugo .

Stay safe Jack. At this point who knows where that hurricane will go. Hopefully out to sea
Eighty years ago today, on September 1st, 1939, Germany invaded Poland.
Two days later, on September 3rd, Great Britain and France declared war on the German Reich.
Those in the Ukraine think about Crimea…
Poland is one American’s strongest East European Allies….
Every senior US Military person is well aware of the significance of this day
That’s why the Vice President is visiting Poland in the President’s stead.
Yup…
I’m sure they’re disappointed….
Like the Danish where…
But Donald Trump REALLY doesn’t give a shit about foreign affairs…
Only his guy Putin…
Well this is one case where I find Trump’s reason to be credible rather than some pretext; I don’t think he’s dissing the Poles (in fact he likes the ruling Law and Justice Party very much) as staying in the U.S. when a major natural disaster impends. I think he genuinely wants to help, although no doubt he also wants to avoid the scoldings he got for mishandling the disasters of 2017 and 2018.
ok DSD….
but they have to be disappointed….
Morning…..
Lots of speculation here in S.C. that there will not be a Republican Presidential primary.
Presidential primaries are not guided by state law.In other words there is no requirement that the parties hold a primary. It is strictly up to the party.
Previously ,Gov McMaster had indicated that ,if someone were to oppose Trump he would support a primary. Now, various GOP bigshots are denigrating the need for a primary due to Trumps overwhelming support among S.C. GOPers.
McMaster, who is going to be Trumps campaign Chair in the State, has gone strangely quiet.
I see, Jack, that Charleston [SC] may be evacuated; how are you doing ?
I think he’s actually in-land about 15 miles away from the coast….
I’m still planning on staying.
Anytime a storm is predicted to come close they “order” an evacuation. Some people go,some stay.
I may lose power Thursday as the storm passes so I might be offline for awhile.
Best to ya Jack….
I WOULD assume Sanford will make a BIG stink that COULD go national making the SC GOPer’s look pretty damn BAD????<....and could ACTUALLY HELP Sanford gain more traction than should?/em>
When you’re polling 2%?Not many people are going to care what kind of “stink” Sanford raises.
Like Weld and Walsh, this “challenge” is going nowhere.
Trump remains overwhelmingly popular among Republicans.
I agree on Trump’s predominate position….
But I think NOT even having a primary is gonna bring stuff down on the state GOP…
From who?
Sanford?
He’s a joke,polling at 2%.
Who else?Walsh? He will do worse than Sanford.
When will you realize that Trump now Owns the Republican Party ?
So 10% or so “Disapprove” of him?As I continue to point out ,even many Republicans who “disapprove “ of him will still vote for him against any of the Democrats. No Democrat can count on more than like 5% of the Republican vote and that is probably generous.
Actually though,if I was Trump, I would want a primary.
SC is one of his strongest states and he can count on a blowout victory here.
Thank You for your 11:21 comment which plays to MY view also…..

I GET it about Trump and the party….
YOU don’t GET it….
If the GOPer’s do NOT do a primary?
They will must asurely attract the attention of the MEDIA , Democrats and yes…Sanford….
NOT running the primary might make Trump happy…
But AGAIN?
It’s gonna make the SC Republican partly look like dopes…
That’s MY view…
Anyone who knows the least thing about politics knows that Trump will easily win S.C.
So,some guy in New York thinks the S.C. Republican Party “looks like dopes?”
Woooo!
Silly.
He, he, he….
WHO in NYC thinks Trump wouldn’t BEAT Sanford?
NOT me….
But NOT running the primary?
For the THIRD time is gonna make the SC GOP look like dopes…
Once again,So?
They support Trump. How can one get dopier than that?
