Will AOC stay on the national stage?
Or start coming home to save her seat?
Could she be the victim of the same national politics focus that enabled her knock off a well know Democrat less than two years ago?
Remenber….
All politics is local, eh?
Scherie Murray, a New York businesswoman who immigrated from Jamaica as a child and is active in state Republican politics, is launching a campaign Wednesday for the congressional seat held by Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Fox News has learned.
In a phone interview, Murray, 38, confirmed her intention to run for the New York congressional seat as a Republican.
“There is a crisis in Queens, and it’s called AOC,” Murray told Fox News. “And instead of focusing on us, she’s focusing on being famous. Mainly rolling back progress and authoring the job-killing Green New Deal and killing the Amazon New York deal.”
Murray, who was born in Jamaica and moved to the United States when she was 9, is officially launching her campaign Wednesday with an introductory video that takes sharp jabs at the 29-year-old Ocasio-Cortez….
Note…
Republicans are sure to pour money into this race which will attach national media attention….

No, Republicans are not going to be “pouring money” into this district. I saw that someone on another blog asked this morning if the Republican candidate “had a chance” and it was about the dumbest question I had ever seen.
This is among the most Democrat districts in the country. As Nancy Pelosi says, a glass of water with a D next to its name could win there.
Scott P. will move to Branson and open a gun shop before this district is competitive for a Republican.
CG says
I note though that I am seeing comments online from Trump apologists who are personally sending her money even though they concede “she probably isn’t going to win.”
Very interesting. Perhaps actively or subconsciously, they feel the need to “support” a woman of color after making their justifications the past few days.

I disagree on the AOC district…
Good politics is to make her stay home…
THAT is bound to happen…
CG says
What do you disagree with?
You think she is vulnerable in that district? You once said the same thing about Elizabeth Warren’s Senate reelection.
If you dislike a politician, you think they are in trouble, if you like a politician, they are close to invincible for you.
jamesb says
incumbency is a strong thing…..
but as i pointed out?
Crowley, the guy she beat, was a national guy …..
if i was the GOOer’s WTF wouldn’t i go after the poster female for the left?
why wouldn’t i make her come home and worry a bit?
just common sense politics 101…..
CG says
You are confusing primaries and general elections. The district is not one that could ever go to a Republican and she is not facing a serious primary challenge. This is not a serious matter.
Furthermore, Crowley lost to her for strictly local reasons.
CG says
On the other hand, Tlaib in Detroit might have a very hard time winning a primary against a single African-American opponent.
In theory, Omar will be vulnerable in a primary in her district, if opposition is not divided. Certainly, the leadership of the party would want to see her lose in a primary.
jamesb says
Really?
Please revisit the 2018 House results….
NYC had Republican Mayor’s for 20 years
NYS has had Republican Governor not so long ago….
Besides ?
This is about trimming AOC’s sails…
We’ll see
CG says
NYC may have had Republican Mayors, but they certainly were not carrying the district represented by AOC, as currently drawn.
If Upstate New York were allowed to vote in her district, perhaps she would have a problem, but are you even listening to yourself now….
jamesb says
Read my last sentence in my last comment on this, please…
CG says
Sorry, I have to put you in Time Out.

He, he, he…..

AOC runs in to some rough in-house weather at home…
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Saikat Chakrabarti “has decided to leave the office to work with New Consensus to further develop plans for a Green New Deal.”
In a now-deleted tweet, Chakrabarti referred to members of moderate Democratic groups as “New Southern Democrats” who are “hell bent to do to black and brown people today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s.” He later accused them of actions that “still enable a racist system.”….

Sort of predictable.
CG s right James.Republicans won’t pour money into a District they have no chance of winning or even doing very well in.Indeed, this woman will probably become a punching bag for AOC to beat up on as a Trump surrogate.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
Very ironically, the President’s invitation to return and help fix a broken country of birth would seem to apply more directly to the Republican hopeful (born in Jamaica; in the U.S. at age 9) than to the Democratic incumbent (born in the U.S.A.)
Now, exactly whom were that audience/crowd/mob in Greenville last night referring to when they chanted “Send Them Back !!” ?
Scott P says
The Trump Republican rally last night was nothing but a hate mob.
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I haven’t yet seen more than a clip of a few seconds from the Greenville rally last night, but Trump events are becoming uncomfortably close to some Nazi Parteitag, egged on by The Leader.
By comparison, the classic Leni Riefanstahl film Triumph of the Will about a real 1934 NSDAP mass Congress in Nuremberg looks and sounds rather tame (although no doubt the most inflammatory parts were edited out).
jamesb says
DSD?
Just like 2016?
Trump gatherings are STRONG
Democrats CONTINUE to be decided, fighting among each other, see sawing from the left to center…
Democrats COULD. very well fuck this up themselves
Pelosi is fighting her own
Trump OWNS. his party…
jamesb says
But got good Fox and other media attention….
jamesb says
She’s a Republican
She’s ok….
Scott P says
Yesteeday CG chided me for pointing out that a Republican Congressman he admires (for good reason) will be facing a hard road to elevate in the current GOP Congressional caucus.
Between the chants at the Trumpublican rally in Greenville last night and Mitch McConnell not skipping a beat to defend Trunp’s racism I contend that Will Hurd is even farther from any House leadership today. Mitch used to at least display a mild concern over Trump’s bigotry.
Basically a “Susan Collins lite”.
I await my flogging from CG–basically shooting the messenger–while “hoping” the very Republicans who are reading people like Hurd out of the party live to see another day.
CG says
When did you guys start denigrating “hope?”
Scott P says
Nothing wrong with hope. I hope every Republican who supports Trump loses next year.
