This is NOT gonna help Bernie Sanders with a LOT of Democrats…
When asked if he would commit to supporting the Democratic nominee if it’s clear it won’t be him, Sen. Bernie Sanders would not make any such commitment to NBC News.
Instead, he talked about his 2016 race: “Some people say that maybe if the system was not rigged against me, I would have won the nomination.”
Jonathan Chait: “While Sanders is coyly hiding behind the ‘some people say’ formulation, he is threatening to repeat the tactics he used in 2016, when he called the process ‘rigged’ and withheld his support long after the outcome was decided.”
Note…
Bernie Sanders is NOT a Democrat….

jamesb won’t commit to supporting the nominee either.
You and Bernie are practically bosom buddies.

That is just a damned stupid reply by Bernie Sanders considering that the only way to defeat Donald Trump is to support Any Democrat.
If Any Democrat were some arch-segregationist from the past, like George Wallace, Theodore Bilbo, Bull Connor, Harry Byrd or James Eastland, then a genuine question might arise as to whether he (or she) would be more acceptable or less acceptable than allowing Donald Trump a second term.
But that’s so very far from today’s situation, and from any or all possible Democratic candidates today, then that is just a thick-headed position to take, the equivalent of Ralph Nader in 2000 or Jill Stein in 2016.
While others (especially Clintonians) may say that Sanders waited too long to endorse Hillary, I think it should be clear that the way to bring over the maximum number of Sanders’ supporters in every state was to give them a chance to vote in a primary or caucus (win or lose) and then have at least one nominal roll call at the Convention.

I’ve been knocking the guy here since 2016….
He don’t get any better…

It was a stupid statement by Sanders, and as far as I am concerned is a good reason to vote against him in the primary.
Of course, James can’t complain about that statement without being hypocritical, but the rest of us can and should.
Zreebs says
With that said, Sanders will siupport the Democratic nominee.
jamesb says
i assume he will support the Dem. ominee in the end if he wants the Dem’s to get alone with him in the Senate…
They need him…
but he also needs them…
