This is NO surprise….
American’s suffering under the debt isn’t something Republicans have NO sympathy for….
They are ALWAYS looking to make the rich….RICHER….
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) called a proposed plan by Democrats to cancel student is “immoral” Tuesday, and said it places a burden on taxpayers who did not attend college.
“When you say #cancelstudentdebt, you’re saying a minority of people who had the advantage of obtaining a degree should have their debt paid off by hardworking taxpayers, 2/3 of whom don’t have degrees themselves, or already paid their own student debt off,” Crenshaw said. “This is immoral.”
Crenshaw’s comments came a day after Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a top-tier 2020 presidential candidate, rolled out legislation to cancel $1.6 trillion in outstanding student debt for 45 million borrowers.
The legislation is co-sponsored by Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.). Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-N.Y.), also backs the bill and spoke in favor of it at a press conference Monday.
Sanders said the plan would be entirely funded by a Wall Street tax.
“During the financial crisis, Wall Street received the largest taxpayer bailout in American history. Now it is Wall Street’s turn to help rebuild the disappearing middle class,” Sanders tweeted Monday…..

I actually agree that paying off student debt is unfair to the students who chose to go to less expensive schools and had their parents work a second job to accomplish it.
I could probably support a plan on which employers are provided a financial incentive to pay off student debt OR the government subsidizes the interest rate. But just promising to pay off debt without conditions turns me off.

Ok….
Lets take another view….
IF you forgive even 50% of that debt what kind of boost would you be giving the economy?
We’re taking about hundreds of millions of dollars…
The REAL problem isn’t what they are actually talking about….
The REAL problems is the way the student loan whole system works…
The interest scheme is so rigged that you COULD actually pay off your original loan and still owe THREE TIMES that borrowed amount….
Ya can’t claim bankruptcy ….
Some student’s graduate and are hit with immediate payback amounts in the hundreds of dollars….
So they say get a deferment ….
But?
The interest and fee’s clock’s keep running in the back ground….
If I was the President GLADY DO some sort of overall forgiveness program…
And I’d probably cut the program back …
Let the damn expensive school’s shrink….
The program stated as a national interest one for education…
It is now actually a drag on the economy …
