He does support Roe vs Wade….
But with certain limitations.(Hyde Amendment)...
Former Vice President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign confirmed that he still supports a controversial ban prohibiting the use of federal funds for certain abortion services.
Campaign aides told The Hill that the 2020 presidential hopeful still supports the Hyde Amendment, which has prevented government health programs like Medicaid from paying for abortions except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the woman.
Biden’s campaign did say that Biden would be open to repealing the amendment if abortion access currently protected under Roe v. Wade was threatened.
…
Biden has never changed his support for Hyde Amendment, the campaign clarified.
He appears to be the only Democratic White House hopeful who has come out in support of the 43-year-old ban, NBC News noted.
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas.) have released proposals to protect abortion access that call for an end to the Hyde Amendment.
Warren has also joined with the other Senate women running for the Democratic nomination — Sens. Kamala Harris (Calif.), Kirsten Gillibrand(N.Y.) and Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) — to co-sponsor legislation overturning the ban.
Planned Parenthood slammed Biden’s continued support for the Hyde Amendment in a statement to NBC….
Note…
Joe Biden , a Roman Catholic, does not personally support abortion…
Note…
How other Democrats running for the nomination feel about abortion…
Democrats started consistently supporting abortion rights after 1988, per Gallup. Now, they’re being called upon to propose specific policy plans about how they would tackle what many are framing as the most severe attacks on women’s reproductive rights in decades….

Right on time….
“Joe Biden infuriated abortion rights advocates Wednesday when his campaign confirmed he supports a policy that blocks Medicaid and other federal health programs from paying for abortions, making him the only Democratic presidential candidate to hold that position,” The Hill reports..
“Biden’s support of the Hyde amendment puts him at odds with party leaders, congressional Democrats and his 2020 competitors amid growing momentum to repeal the federal prohibition.”

(I could be wrong…But I do N OT think this a BIG problem for Biden…He support’s Roe vs Wade…)

This is nearly certain to be gigantic roadblock to Biden’s hopes. While women in general may staill have a broad range of opinions about reproduction, almost every female Democratic activist and some male ones would find the Hyde Amendment to be a bar to supporting Biden’s nomination, and if nominated adding enough energy energy to his general-election campaign.
Remember, for many women in the Democratic Party or broader liberal/progressive movement, this is the A number 1 issue — just as this issue (chiefly restricting or repealing Roe v Wade</i ) is the principal motivation for many of the most active supporters of the GOP or evangelical conservatism.
(I had long arguments with my late mother, a Planned Parenthood activist in Providence, over supporting Lincoln Chafee’s U.S. Senate campaigns on the GOP ticket. For me, the paramount issue was how tight the balance of power in the Senate was — even if it meant supporting a pro-life Democrat like Robert Weygand; while she looked past party labels to back a champion of reproductive rights.)
Female Democratic candidates whose views on other issues are quite moderate or even conservative, e.g. Hillary Clinton, Martha Coakley or Gina Raimondo, will often try to rouse a liberal and/or female audience by their militance on issues like #MeToo and reproductive rights.
And sincere and principled as the late Henry Hyde was, his amendment by itself just discriminates against poorer women, while barely affecting those who can pay for reproductive rights.

This is a big issue for me, and it makes me less likely to support Biden in the primary.
