2020: Wow, he’s actually going through with it. Former Congressman John Delaney (D-Delusional) of Maryland has been seen in Iowa, hiring staff and opening no fewer than six district offices. He must have too much money and/or time on his hand.
2020: Will we reach Peak Biden soon? Sources close to former VP Joe Biden claim that he his leaning towards a 2020 run, not necessarily because he has any great desire to, but because he thinks he’s the only one who can win. The strategy would be to play on his supposed strength with many of Trump’s voter groups (blue collar guys, independents), but of course, it’s an open question if such a candidate can get nominated in today’s political climate.
2020 Census: Yesterday, a trial started in a federal court in San Francisco to determine (who are they kidding, this will end up in the Supreme Court) the legality of the Trump administration’s move to include a question about citizenship on the 2020 census. Opponents of the question claim that its inclusion will lead to a dramatic undercount and subsequently underfunding of people in immigrant-rich areas (read: California).
SCOTUS WATCH: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is missing from the January court lineup for the first time in her career. Ginsburg is still recovering from the removal of two cancerous growths from her lung last month but is said to be working from home. Health worries have spurred tons of speculation about her future on the court and of course on who Trump would nominate in her place, should a vacancy arise….
