The Russian effort’s , that worked , to get the person THEY WANTED, as the American President has been revealed as a much BIGGER operation then most of us thought….
The internet has one secret that most people simply do not get….
ANYTHING on line?
Is NOT secure and can be hacked and used by bad actors to steal from you or influence your actions….
The Russian propaganda campaign to disrupt our elections and divide Americans went far beyond Google and Facebook, infiltrating and infecting everything from Pinterest to PayPal.
Driving the news: New reports out Monday about Russia’s online disinformation efforts suggest that all of the major social media platforms, ranging from Facebook and Google’s empires to Reddit and Tumblr, were weaponized over the past two years. Facebook-owned Instagram was particularly “underestimated.”

What worries me — as a non-techie — is this question:
If the Internet Research Agency is so sophisticated, and if all these platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google, GMail, etc.) have their own proprietary means to determine (as they would say, “to a granular level”) all the social, demographic, political and religious characteristics of each individual user [mainly in order to direct advertising in an extremely personal way],
Then, was it, and is it, possible for the IRA, Fancy Bear, Cosy Bear, et al. (let alone the Chinese) to hi-jack those platforms’ own databases and systems to microtarget voters and other unwitting political agents in the U.S. ? Can they estimate or guess what my views on gun control, or yours on evangelical Christianity, might be, and then direct their activities accordingly ?

It seems to me that the smart thing has been to get access and sneakily do their thing…
An outright grab and setup would bring heat down on them right away…
The Russians kinda ‘steer’ things gently in their direction…
Had charging doesn’t last long….
The basic that I see is that few, if any internet access systems are secure…
We see even defense and intel community sites getting hacked….
1984 has come and gone and the word on it was true….
