Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams (D) defeated incumbent GOP Rep. Mia Love by fewer than 700 votes in a hotly contested race for Utah’s 4th Congressional District, turning the district blue for the first time in six years.
The race had been initially too close to call, with both McAdams and Love at different points taking a slight edge over each other. In the end, the Associated Press called the race for the Democrat on Nov. 20.
Polls had showed McAdams with a slight edge over Love, with Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifting her race from a “toss-up” to “leans Democrat” just days before the election.
Love had faced an uphill battle in the district, where President Trump‘s approval rating has been underwater amid a midterm election that has been widely framed as a referendum on the president….
James, If you want to know why people get frustrated with you, just read your first sentence. Two thoughts.
1) Utah is not a mid-west state. It is not even close to the Mid-West. Its eastern neighbor, Colorado is also considered a Western state. Maybe you got confused with Iowa because they both have four letters.
2) McAdam’s win is not a gain for Pelosi. He has been openly critical of Pelosi and signed a letter opposing her.
No one wants to waste their time commenting that Utah is not in the Midwest or that a Pelosi opponent is not the same thing as a Pelosi supporter. You can and must do better than that.

1) According to Wiki Utah is a Western State so I got the Mid party wrong….Not the West…
2) Ofd course McAdam’s win IS a gain for Pelosi….It’s a Democratic win…It will count in the INCREASED number of House Democrats she has in her majority as Speaker of the House…We’ll see if McAdams actually votes against Pelosi for the Speakership….She’s got the job wrapped up why dig yopurself in a hole?….(McAdams actually praised Pelosi in his winning speech….That was after the win…I mean he’s in Utah..would we expect him to say good things about her BEFORE he won?)
3) I’m doing better ….And though note perfect…None of us are…I’m proud of the place which is holding its own….
BTW?
My forecast of Dem’s getting 35-40 House seats and the GOPer’s picking up 2-3 Senate seats was pretty darn good….
I’m gonna keep on singing my song here….
Oh, The market continues to drop like a stone….
I’m of the view that comes mid to late next year?
Things are gonna start to go sideways for the economy and Trump’s political future….

I agree that the McAdams win was a Democratic win, but that is not what you said. Your argument is kind of like saying that a Democrat who campaigned against guns and won was a victory for gun control. I am happy for you that the place is holding its own. Its own what?
