Election Night 2018…The Midterm’s….PDog thread…..

I’ll be posting up return information on tonights midterm elections across the country….

My prediction has been Democrats end the night with 35 to 40 House seat gains giving them a reclaimed majority for 2021….

My prediction for the Senate is Republicans gain a seat or 2 no more…..

But it my HOPE that I’m wrong and somehow the Democrats manage to hold on and swing a few Senate races that are close and wiggle out a one seat majority at least….

I’ll be posting up after about 9:15 PM…..

I invite any of our regulars to jump in before and after I start my comments….

I would hope that EVERYONE who comes to this place HAS voted their choice tonight….

  2. From what I have seen at several polling locations the number of voters here on Long Island is up around what would be for a presidential election…..
    I have been told that same applies for voters in New York City…..

    Texas is already changing, in 4-8 years it will be a purple state for real…that is a big loss for Red Republicans in the electoral college

  5. I cannot help myself from this brief moment of self-reflection.

    Looking at all the results, with the possibility that some could still change, but if the way things stand right now hold-

    my predictions

    Governor- 35-1
    (DeSantis R)

    Senate 34-1
    (Scott R)

    Congress 419-16 (10 wrong GOP predictions, 6 wrong Democrat predictions)

    (Denham- R, Walters-R, Murcasel-Powell D, McBath D, Watkins-R, Hagedorn R, Herell R, Rose D, Delgado D, Harris R, Horn D, Cunningham D, Allred D, McAdams D, Luria, D, Schier D)

    • You have done pretty good CG
      Nobody believed Gillum would lose based on the polling and media reports….

      My guess was 35 to 49 House Dems
      And 2 to 3 GOP Senate
      So i was pretty good.

      • As soon as Gillum was nominated, i thought Democrats made a huge mistake and he would lose.

        But DeSantis was such a horrible candidate, it didn’t look possible. Alas though, it was. I think Jeb Bush’s campaigning might have gotten Scott and DeSantis across the finish line.

        • another observation from the press conferences today is that Pelosi is increasingly demonstrating that she is past her prime, and that her party would be better off with someone else leading the day to day battle with Trump.

          That is a decision for Democrats to make though. I think most of the Democrats who used to post here would agree they want someone else as Speaker.

          I say it’s 50/50 she gets the gig. Trump is offering to make Republicans vote for her on the floor to assure she gets it. Would you want her to take that deal?

            I have said here repeatily that the job is Her’s to keep….

            She is qualified to handle the job that will is coming her way….

          I agree DeSantis was a horrible candidate
          But the election was in Florida….
          So a black Democrat does start off with strikes against him
          It does NIT. Help that Latino’s don’t come out to vote in large numbers down rhere
