This was necessary for Warren if she is serious about running for the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination…
For Donald Trump who has used slurs on her blood lines?
It won’t mean much I’d think…
He’ll continue to use slurs…
It’s how he operates….
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Monday publicly released results of a DNA test that a top researcher said “strongly support[s]” the existence of a Native American ancestor.
Warren gave the results of the analysis, conducted by Stanford University professor and MacArthur genius Carlos Bustamante, to The Boston Globe.
Bustamante said that Warren’s test results show the “vast majority” of her ancestry is European, but that “the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor,” likely 6–10 generations ago.
Warren’s campaign also released a video on her family history, published fact-checking informationon her website about her heritage and published the results of Bustamante’s report.
“The facts suggest that you absolutely have Native American ancestry in your pedigree,” Bustamante tells the senator in the video.
The results of the test align with what Warren has said publicly about her heritage, though she has come under fire for identifying as Native American earlier in life. The “fact squad” findings published Monday on her website purports to set the record straight on those claims, saying that her heritage “played no role” in her hiring throughout her career…..

Releasing this was a political mistake for Warren.
No reasonable person would have doubted that she probably had Native American ancestry in her blood going back several generations, but releasing these results just shows how minimal it was. Apparently, the amount Native American she is happens to be *less* than the amount the typical European-American is.
This does not reflect well upon her for trying to claim minority status for professional advancement year ago. She had no reasonable claim to do so.
scott says
Yes yes we know you think just about everything a Democrat does us a “mistake”.
Not shocking that you are taking the Trump Republican side on this. It’s what you are.
CG says
Get better material.
scott says
Get a better political party.
CG says
I’m putting more effort into that than you are in finding better material.
jamesb says
She HAS Native American in her DNA…
No one goes around giving percentages…
More cover fire for Trump, eh?
The use of slur’s by Trump is wrong, but is now looked at as ok by Trump supporters…
How low can people go…..
CG says
Trump is wrong to call her “Pocahontas” but he’s only going to do it more now. She has proven she exaggerated immensely on the matter. She could have left well enough alone. Almost anyone who has had family in the U.S. since the 1800s could probably find the same amount of Native American DNA.
Literally, her one Native American ancestor may have been alive at the time of Pocahontas.
scott says
“He’s only going to do it more now”
Of course he is. Because he’s an asshole. One that 90 plus percent of the GOP either loves or is afraid of.
CG says
The Cherokee Nation has issued a statement that is dismissive and highly critical of what Senator Warren did.
https://www.kjrh.com/news/local-news/cherokee-nation-issues-statement-on-sen-elizabeth-warren-s-dna-test-results
But keep thinking this was a brilliant political move..
scott says
I didn’t say it was a “brilliant move”.
It cracks me up though how you say Trump is wrong to call Warren Pocahontas. Yet you want to talk about this nonstop–just like Trump does!
I guess it beats the real issues.
jamesb says
It is of no importance what the Cherokee Nation thinks
The DNA Is there ….
Politics and race ARE an American feature….
Trump’s track record ain’t good at all on where people are from, eh?
jamesb says
Ah slezzy Fonald Trump
He said he give a million for proof of Warren’s native ancestry
Now that it’s confirmed?
He will only donate the money if HIS registry test confirms?
Sure……
The guy IS a weasel ….
He word means NOTHING
CG says
She is 1/1024 of what she says she was .That’s great. I would have expected more than 1/1024 and most others people did too. Scott is probably more of a Native American than she is. jack for certain.
This was a dumb political move. Jim Messina, Obama’s campaign manager is complaining that with the Election so close away, she should not have done this and that Democrats can never stay focused.
(No, this will not cost her the MA reelection raec.)
But in Scottland and jamesville, Democrats are doing just great. at all time…. no worries at all!
jamesb says
Actually I believe Warren is up in the double digits over her opponent ….
This IS about countering Trump, which she has , and a possible 2020 Presidential run….
No matter what?
She DOES have the DNA. Proof
This is Trump and others routine of trying to weasel out of getting caught….
Same as the Obama birth certificate bull shit….
CG says
Yeah, she’s going to win her seat handily, especially because the GOP picked such a horrible nominee. You were the one once saying she was vulnerable, all because you used to not like her. I guess that has changed.
But what she did today was dumb and Democrats running in battleground states and races would agree. She just seems to be seeking attention for herself with this “reveal.”
Well, now we know that the woman who once claimed to be Harvard Law School’s “First Woman of Color” is 1/1024 Native American.
Some “woman of color.”
Had she never announced this, I would have at least estimated 1/32.
jamesb says
Politicians seeking ATTENTION????
When did THAT start?
CG says
The bottom line to the release today, which may have eluded me to some extent, was that she was trying to bury this story and get it out of the way.
She knows how “bad” this is for her, based on things she has claimed in her life going back to college and how these DNA results show tremendous exaggeration on her part, so before she begins her Presidential campaign, she wanted to rip this Band-Aid off.
I would have just left well enough alone, but her advisors probably felt otherwise.
jamesb says
You are stating ur views….
For me and others?
She was proving Donald Trump wrong…
He is playing this off and isn’t gonna honor his giving the money…
I seem to remember a FEW. Times back on 2016 where he did NOT come up with the money he promised and tried to play it off then also….
The guy is a weasel…..
CG says
He should donate 1/1024 of a million dollars.
jamesb says
He’s rich
He should man up and do what he SAID he would do!
jamesb says
The fact remains she DOES have what she said….
We all agree Trump is WRONG in slurping her….
Anything about Trump’s DNA if people want to take silliness further ?
Democratic Socialist Dave says
I think that we can all agree that the very thought of Donald ’Trump slurping” anyone (including himself) is Soooooo…… “WRONG”
Hope I can sleep easily tonight with that image floating around in my head.
scott says
The other day it was. the Clintos. Now it’s Warren.
Why not talk about Repubkican accomplishment s?
Unless….
CG says
Republican accomplishments, especially as it relates to Congress, are that the economy is very good in the eyes of many and conservative judges have been confirmed, even in the face of viciously dishonest opposition. The most popular Governors in America are Republicans.
But I don’t think you really want to discuss that.
jamesb says
Democrats ARE expected to gain a good amount of Governorships come Jan.1 due to the midterm’s
scott says
No dedense of the Trump Republican tax cuts? Gee you’d think that buck and a half a week for the school secretary wouod br more of a winner. Oh well.
The billionaires got their exrra yacht and the rest of us got a ballooning budget deficit but hey–in the age of Trump Republicanism it’s back to “deficits don’t matter”–on steroids!
Keith says
My, reading through this thread I am amazed at the misogyny. A woman Senator is relentlessly attacked over her heritage by an overweight pussy grabbing bully, she releases her DNA test that confirms that heritage, and we are told she shouldn’t have brought it up because the bully will keep repeating his taunts and lies anyway.
Really? I see.
As a recall, Manila used to get off on calling Warren Pocahontas too. He thought it was fun to belittle a woman. Most bullies and Republicans do (but now I am being redundant).
Now, instead of keeping his word and paying Warren a million dollars (to a worthy charity) Trump wants to administer his own DNA test on her. I think Elizabeth should agree and provide him his DNA sample by peeing on him. I hear he likes that sort of thing.
Nothing could be more anti-woman, or Republican for that matter, than this attack on Senator Warren. She was mocked for repeating a family story about here heritage, and that ridicule is what took Scott Brown down in my opinion. He stopped being a likable incumbent Senator and became a bully when he went all Pocahontas on Warren. Now we know she has Native Indian heritage, no matter what the Cherokee tribe has to say about it (although I think they simply object to DNA testing). But, it is somehow her fault for bringing the subject up, but, of course she didn’t. Ah, the Republican outrage machine, complete with subtle racist codes words and ready made controversies. Very predictable and too often effective.
It’s important to remember that Donald Trump never really liked Indian Tribes to begin with, just listen to his Congressional testimony. I think it’s simply because they can run successful casinos and he can’t. He uses Indians, like he uses all minorities as a tool rally his racist base.
He likes giving people nick names to further insult and degrade them. I get that. The Republican base loves his type of insult politics. It will drive their turnout next month.
This is all simply one more reason to follow George Will’s advice and vote Democratic this November (I just sent my mail ballot today) and fumigate the Republican Party for future generations of the weak kneed enablers who inhabit it today.
jamesb says
Warren explains why….
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) defended the timing of her decision to release the results of a DNA test just ahead of the midterm elections, telling the Boston Globe that she went public as soon as possible to begin deflecting the constant taunting from the president and her Senate challengers.
Said Warren: “I have an election. Donald Trump goes in front of crowds multiple times a week to attack me. Both of my opponents have made the same attack. I got this analysis back, and I made it public.”
