Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I) could have forced a contest such as the one Bannon describes in 2016, the former Trump associate continued in the interview, had he not lacked the “fearlessness” of a untraditional candidate like Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Avenatti has dropped hints in recent weeks that he is preparing a 2020 campaign for the Democratic nomination, and has staked out positions to left of Hillary Clinton‘s positions from 2016 including restrictions on money in politics, an endorsement of “Medicare for All” single payer healthcare, and support for unions.
“If Bernie Sanders had an ounce of Avenatti’s fearlessness, he would have been the Democratic nominee and we would have had a much tougher time beating him,” Bannon said Friday.
“Bernie doesn’t have fearlessness?” host Bill Maher responded.
“Not like Avenatti,” Bannon responded. “He’s got a fearlessness and he’s a fighter. I think he’ll go through a lot of this field if he decides to stick with it.”….

Avenatti is from St. Louis and has said he would base his Presidential campaign here. Not that I expect any potential candidacy of hus to be anything but a vanity run.
