The woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault in a confidential letter to members of Congress has come forward to tell her story.
Christine Blasey Ford, a professor at Palo Alto University in California, told The Washington Post that she had feared Kavanaugh “might inadvertently kill” her as he held her down and groped her while they were both high school students around 1982.
Ford alleges another teenager watched as a drunken Kavanaugh attempted to remove her clothing at a gathering in suburban Maryland. She tried to scream, but Kavanaugh covered her mouth to silence her, she told the Post. She said she escaped after Kavanaugh’s friend entered the room and jumped on top of both of them.
“I think it derailed me substantially for four or five years,” Ford told the Post of the alleged assault. She described the incident as a “rape attempt” during a therapy session in 2012, according to her therapist’s notes obtained by the Post.
Kavanaugh has denied any wrongdoing….

Post on Kavanaugh accuser is here….

She’s very credible. Sexual assault is sexual assault. But don’t hold your breath for the Senate Republicans to do anything about it.

We won’t….

As a political matter only, Democrats surely know that ,even if Kavanaugh withdraws under pressure, the next nominee will be someone very similar philosophically.
The only thing that would change the equation is for a Democratic Majority in the new Senate. Even that might not matter though, in that the Republicans could very well push through a nominee in the interregnum between the election and the new Senate. In that scenario disgruntled, retiring Republican Senators Like Flake and Corker would be in the catbird seat.
Further, the odds, in my view, are still against a Democratic Senate Majority. Accordingly, it still seems more likely than not that Kavanaugh or a virtual ideological clone will be the next Supreme Court Justice.

Maybe Jack, but one thing for sure (I would hope), the next nominee, if there is one, won’t be an accused sexual assaulter.
Figures Trump would nominate one.

Trump was drawn to Kavanaugh becausecof his views on Presidents being indicted.
Republican Senators might be fine with jettisoning him for an equally conservative nominee–but if Trump feels like he’s losing his Get Out of Jail Free card he’ll be sure to rage tweet about it–blaming everyone and everything but himself.

Point well given Scott….
Trump is ALWAYS just about HIM...
Screw the country

Politicalwire is reporting that Kavanaugh’s acvuser is willing to testify. If Senate Republicans do not allow her to testify it will be another albatross with their candidates among suburban women.
If she does testify and Trunp–as we know he will–tweets disparaging comments about the accuser–it’s another headache for Republicans trying to stop the bleeding with suburban women.
Not a good way out for Republicans unless Kavanaugh withdraws.
