High drama….
Senator Flake just caucused with Democratic Senators in the committee….
He just came out and voted to advance kavanaugh up to the full Senate….
But he has made known that his request for a week delay for the FBI look at the new allegations from the women involved….(Trump ok’s?)
There is jocking going on in the hallways as Grassley and Graham trying to get things done…
And Flake troubled…
Any delay will have to be come from McConnell and Schumer….
But if other Senator’s have Flake’s back?
There is a delay coming…
Flake HAS worked with others to slow things down…
Republicans now have the job of selling this to Trump….
But they actually don’t have the votes it appears to get over the finish line so Trump will have to accept the delay….
Trump has gone out of his way to NOT diss Ford….
Trump is signaling that he does NOT KNOW if he’ll get Kavanaugh on the bench…
He keeps saying this is in the Senate’s hands…
Interesting….
Trump seems to have doubts, eh?
Trump calls Blasey Ford “very credible” and says he’ll let the Senate work its process. This after he attacked the allegations against Kavanaugh. What a mess. It sounds like Pres Trump wants no part of this. ‘I will be totally reliant on what Sen Grassley and (GOPs) want to do.”
Note….
Props to the woman who confronted Flake in the elevator….

You know what else is going to come out in a week? Polls. Lots of ’em. And if you’re Susan Collins or Joe Manchin, it’s probably pretty nice to look at some poll and see what your constituents think.

Which poor FBI special agents are about to bit handed this s*** sandwich?

Dana Bash on CNN just reported that Murkowski ‘is with’Flake….
That would mean this is a LOCK….
McConnell doesn’t have the vote without the two….
jamesb says
Yo CG?
What’s going on with these guys?
CG says
Doesn’t concern me at all. There will be a confirmation vote soon enough.
I’m busy working though, so thanks for asking.
jamesb says
I’m back to saying confirmation slightly LESS than 50%….
Before Flake my feeling was back up WTF over 50%…..
jamesb says
Anyone notice Collins was NOT in the group standing and supporting Flake?
Oh, NOW she does?

SUSAN COLLINS says she supports this idea. That’s 3 GOP moderates — Flake, Collins, Murkowski — plus Manchin. That’s a moderate bloc, “The FBI Four” — who can block Kavanaugh’s nomination from moving forward until the FBI investigation is complete.

WH will order more FBI background work on Kavanaugh…

Sorry NYCMike , Daniel and some other GOPer’s ain’t around for this….
Flake has had them ALL turn around because a women got in his face going into a elevator….
Ain’t politics interesting!

The “longer” this goes on (and the more outrageous the inevitable new accusations will be), the more pressure this puts on Manchin and Heitkamp.
McCaskill, Donnelly, and Tester have already said they will vote no. The pressure will be on them to some extent too. I’m saying this to people on the right who are freaking out about Flake and are very angry at him, etc. Patience is required.
I would not underestimate how serious people on the right are taking this and how motivated they are and will be to vote out people who support the Democrats’ desire to destroy a man and his family.
jamesb says
Manchin has decent poll numbers
He’s been involved with Flake from the jump….
If the group you mention sticks together they are fine…

Another day another battle in the culture wars of America. Dems actually won more from this move than I thought. I still think he will get the nomination (investigation pending of course), but they keep racking up wins with women and thats the future of the country.
Walk on any college campus, more women than men by far and they will eventually turn the tide on the wage disparity, will take more time, but it will happen.

Digging themselves out of November wins
And working hard at it?

I have always believed that things go back and forth

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) admitted that there’s “not a chance” he would have called for an FBI investigation into the allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh if he were running for reelection, The Hill reports.
Said Flake: “Not a chance. There’s no value to reaching across the aisle. There’s no currency for that anymore. There’s no incentive.”

Here’s the original exchange, from the full transcript on 60 Minutes’ own web page:
…Scott Pelley: Senator Flake, you’ve announced that you’re not running for re-election and I wonder, could you have done this, if you were running for re-election?
Sen. Jeff Flake: No, not a chance
Scott Pelley: Not a chance?
Sen. Jeff Flake: No, no.
Scott Pelley: Because politics has become too sharp, too partisan?
Sen. Jeff Flake: There’s no value to reaching across the aisle. There’s no currency for that anymore. There’s no incentive….
