They said they would go ahead with this…
They ARE announcing their intention to sharply cut back America’s effort to control carbon dioxide emissions limits on the federal level…
The EPA would allow states to write their own limits if they want…
Or have none….
This seems to aimed at those states that have coal production ….
It undoubtably will be contested in the courts and isa front to the global efforts to support climate control….
The Trump administration released its proposal to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from power plants today, rolling back the far more ambitious 2015 regulation that was a core part of former President Barack Obama’s climate change agenda.
Read the regulation here.
The new EPA rule would allow states more leeway to write their own regulations for coal-fired power plants or even seek permission to opt out, a sharp contrast with the previous version that sought to shift the electricity industry away from coal use and toward less-polluting sources such as natural gas, wind and solar.
The new proposed rules would trim less than one-tenth of the carbon dioxide emissions from the power sector as the Obama EPA’s version, a rollback that greens and many states complain will delay long-sought action to curb the pollution that is raising global temperatures, lifting sea levels and worsening extreme weather events….

Republicans will often ,when challenged on their abysmal environmental
Record, pointbout that Richard Nixon created the EPA.
So?
Once again, we are not talking about almost Fifty years ago.We are talking about today.Talk about “ no relevance.”
The fact is Republican environmental policy ,like much else on the “conservative “ agenda ,seems more about opposing something just because “libruls” are for it than any real policy issues.
