“I think you’re going to see probably the lowest bump from a boom economy in Republican midterm figures that we’ve seen in the last 30 or 40 years, and it’s all about Trump’s polarizing personality and Trump’s polarizing issues,” he continued.
“There’s a lot of Republicans who will say ‘yeah, we have a good economy, but I’m just going to vote to get that guy out and to send a message that I don’t like him.'”….

Meanwhile, Democracy Corps is out with a poll that shows 78% of Republicans want Trump to continue to lead the Republican Party ,while only 17%want “somebody else.”
Those numbers aren’t surprising really as 10-15% of Republicans have pretty much consistently “disapproved” of Trump since his nomination two years ago.
The numbers do though signal major problems for any potential candidate thinking of challenging Trump for the nomination in 2020.Right now the numbers just aren’t there for a serious challenge.
