The death of Sen. John McCain has resonated with so many Americans for reasons far more visceral than his record as a longtime senator or even his stature as an American hero, his longtime friend Joseph R. Biden Jr. said Thursday.
“I think it’s something more intangible,” the former vice president and Delaware senator said at the Arizona senator’s memorial service in Phoenix. “I think it’s because they knew that John believed so deeply and so passionately in the soul of America.”
Biden has often said that you should never give a good eulogy, because you’ll keep getting invited to speak at more funerals.
The truth is there may be no politician better at the art of the eulogy than Biden, so it was no surprise when it first became public that McCain had asked Biden to offer one for him, when they last met up at McCain’s ranch in Arizona…..

Among my many discussions with Republican friends and acquaintances over the past week or so I have noted two distinct lines regarding the passing ofJohnMcCain,
Republicans ,who support Trump mainly due to their ingrained conservatism, while often disparaging his personal actions, have uniformly praised McCain , noted their support of his presidential candidacy , and held him out as emblematic of their”kind” of Republican.
Trumpite Republicans have ,at best ,reflected the usual regret at his passing ,then quickly pivot to a denigration of his role vis a vis Trump. The vast majority of Trumpites I know ,however ,are actively hostile to McCain, often echoing their leaders negative remarks about him .When reminded that a scant ten years ago they supported him for President,in some cases enthusiastically, they play down such as nothing more than opposition to Obama and the Democrats, noting they never really cared for him.

What a shame….

Quite a service today (still going on) from the National Cathedral. Most people will be talking about Meghan McCain’s eulogy and the way she went after Trump without mentioning his name. Her father would be proud.

Things have a way of finding the good no matter how much someone tries to distort it….
The question is after the crowds leave?
Will today’s word have an effect on the nations politic?

Will all those Republicans in the audience now go back to Congress and grow a spine?
I doubt it very much.
The Arizona Governor will now send a Trump clone to DC.

I was in Iceland when McCain passed and while J heard the news did not hear much of the reaction to it in the first few days as I was off the grid for the most part.
I do wonder how the funeral and contrast of McCain’s life of service to Trump’s selfish oporrtunism will resonate among Republicans. It may just be me but it feels like even in the GOP the Trump schtick is growing old. If that’s the case it poses problems for GOP candidates in the midterms as the vast majority of primaries are over and most Republican candidates are on the record praising Trump.
If Republican voters are tiring of Trump they may not be motivated to get out and vote for a roster of candidates who echo him.
We will see.

It IS growing old….
But as reported here….
A LOT of GOPer’s while knowing their party leader IS a knucklehead?
Will defend him because he reps their point of view in general….
There IS gonna be a problem when Trump exists the stage….
