Donald Trump Jr. likened the Democratic Party’s platform to that of the Nazis during the 1930s during an appearance at a film screening Wednesday night, saying comparisons between the group and conservatives are the product of “wrongly influenced” academia.
President Donald Trump’s oldest son made the comments at an event for conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza’s new film: “Death of a Nation: Plantation Politics and the Making of the Democratic Party.” The film explores ties between the American Democratic Party and the Nazis and finds similarities between Trump and President Abraham Lincoln.
“You see the Nazi platform in the early 1930s and what was actually put out there, and you look at it compared to, like, the DNC platform of today, and you’re saying, ‘Man, those things are awfully similar,’ to the point where it’s actually scary, and to me that was one of the most striking things I took from the movie because it’s the exact opposite that you’ve been told,” Donald Trump Jr. said during an interview with One America News Network.
D’Souza, who also wrote a book of the same title, is no stranger to the Trump family. The president granted him a full pardon in May after he pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance laws in 2014.
The president’s son did not address the members of the so-called alt-right who self-identify as Nazis and white supremacists….
