The guys in this office haven’t had a good track record….
There are 3 women and one man running for nomination , which will mean they will most likely get the job come next year…
There are a good number of undecideds in the July polling of the race….
The candidates agree more on than they might disagree on…
Lettita “Trish’ James has the endorsement of NY Governor Cuomo and most of the establishment Democrats….
Zephyr Teachout is the Left’s choice….
Leecia Eve is a former Hillary Clinton staffer ….
And Rep. Sean Maloney is also running for his current job also….He is firts openly gay man to win office from NY in Congress…
Both James and Eve would be the first black women to hold the office of AG in New York….
James leads in the polling , but only got 25% in the July poll…Maloney had 16%…Teachout 13% and Eve 4%…The Undesided was 42%…..
The Democratic primary for New York’s attorney general became competitive after sitting Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D) resigned on May 7 over physical abuse allegations.
Leaders in the state Democratic Party, including Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, and New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, coalesced behind New York City Public Advocate Letitia “Tish” James soon after she entered the race. More than 80 percent of the delegates to the May 2018 New York Democratic convention supported her.
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney and law professor Zephyr Teachout say they will be more independent from Cuomo than James.
Maloney, who is simultaneously running for re-election to his swing congressional seat, has emphasized that he was first openly gay man elected to Congress from New York and would use the position to advocate on LGBTQ issues. He has criticized James for her endorsements, saying it shows her campaign “is propped up by insiders and the political machine.”
Teachout, a Bernie Sanders supporter, is running on a progressive policy platform that includes investigating corporations for fraud, decreasing incarceration rates, and pursuing anti-trust action against Google and Facebook. She has the support of two other New York City progressives running in 2018, 14th District congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon.
Former Hillary Clinton aide Leecia Eve is also running and emphasizing her experience in government.
All four candidates say they will continue using the office to oppose President Donald Trump, for which Schneiderman gained national recognition. Schneiderman resigned after The New Yorker published an article in which four women alleged he physically abused them. He denied the accusations.
New York Solicitor General Barbara Underwood replaced Schneiderman as the interim attorney general and was later selected by the state legislature to fill the rest of his 2015-2018 term, becoming the first woman to hold the position.
Two previous attorneys general, Cuomo and Eliot Spitzer (D), were later elected governor of New York….

Although I don’t recognize many other New York state Attorneys General, three of them were Aaron Burr (later Vice President of the U.S.), Martin Van Buren (later both Vice President and President), and Jacob K. Javits (later a U.S. Senator).
