Vanity Fair explains this Republican way of throwing any blame for ANYTHING against them to a mythological secret organization plotting against them…
They use the Jim Jordan problem’s at Ohio State as their example….
In the pre-Trump era, fear of the “deep state” was the domain of Ron Paul acolytes, AM-radio hacks, Alex Jones and Internet conspiracy-mongers. It described a force they couldn’t see, but of whose existence they were utterly convinced: an invisible cabal of unelected military and government officials who steered policy from the bowels of Washington. Following the election of Donald Trump, however, the term has gone mainstream. According to a recent Monmouth University poll, three in four Americans believe the deep state exists. And Republicans, inspired by Trump’s use of the term to demonize federal investigations into his campaign, are following suit, blaming the deep state for everything from undermining Ben Carson to, in the case of House Freedom Caucus leader Jim Jordan, fueling allegations that he ignored reports of sexual harassment while working as a wrestling coach at Ohio State University….

This whole “ deep state” thing is simply a childlike myth that Republicans have created to explain away anything that cast an aspersions on their actions.
It’s a total lie.
It says much about the Republican Party and it’s adherents though.

Yes
The ‘Deep State’
A covient target to deflect….
So ah, Trumpish!
Zreebs says
According to a recent ABCNews poll, 48% believes in the deep state, and of those who do, a majority believes it is a major problem.

So,in the spirit of fairness,
Any Democrat who believes in this “ deep state” myth is a
Left Wing kook!
My Name Is Jack says
Indeed anyone who uses this term is,in my view, a
“ Right Wing kook” or maybe in more colloquial language,
Just a damn liar.

The whole Repiblican Party is a conspiracy group chat room thrsecdays days. It didn’t happen overnight. First you had liars like Rush Limbaugh who spread their BS and the GOP hierarchy kept their distance. Eventually somrone like Sarah Palin winds up on the ticket. Abdnd then Donald Trump.
If David Duke were to run as a Republican again he would not be shunned by the party as he was in 1991.
Zreebs says
Jim Jordan was a frequent conservative guest on news or political analysis shows. But clearly this scandal will hurt his effectivenes – especially if it causes him to have to answer unwanted questions. At this point, I don’t see how Jordan can be anything but a liability for conservatives.
Keith2018 says
We saw this week how they don’t care if young men were molested Zreebs. They are circling the wagons around Jordan.
jamesb says
Well Jordan is a sideshow compared to Trump, eh?
Keith2018 says
Hopefully everyone got to see the House hearing this week. The conspiracy theories were flying. Jim Jordan and greasy Trey turned themselves inside out trying to prove that a successful and loyal federal employee had somehow conspired to help Hillary Clinton during the Russian investigation. Talk about alternative facts.
jamesb says
I watched a little of the hearing…..
The FBI agent held his own
He is a counter intel guy
Probably has questioned a good many people
He had to have been smiling inside
It was like doing his job
He gave up nothing really that they wanted

Yeah remember how a few months ago, after Gowdy announced he wasn’t running for re-election, he became mildly critical of Trump and was expressing sort of a disillusionment with politics in general?
Apparently “ Bubba” got an earful from the Right Wing crew here in S.C.Gowdy hasn’t given up totally on his political aspirations and is mentioned as a candidate against Lindsay Graham in 2020 or maybe a federal judgeship.
To maintain his viability he can’t anger the Right Wing base of the S.C. GOP.
So Gowdy returns as the same old attack dog he was back in the ill fated Benghazi “investigation when he saw his Speakership aspirations disappear after being made to look ridiculous by Hillary Clinton’s testimony and the clueless admission by another Speaker wannabe Kevin McCarthy that the whole thing was nothing more that a political setup.
Bubba is back in his element with cheap political and personal attacks on an insignificant FBI agent, implying that this one guy had something to do with “framing” his party leader.
Crummy stuff ,but par for the course for the likes of Trey “Bubba” Gowdy.
Keith2018 says
He will lead the efforts to impeach Rosenstein.
jamesb says
Going after RosenStein isn’t gonna be successful I’d think….
The House would need a simple majority…
So the GOPer’s need to do their dirty work before the November midterm election…
The Senate needs a 2/3 vote which means Rosenstein ain’t gonna be convinced ….
jamesb says
Thank You Jack for Gowdy update….
They ALL seem to lose their balls when it comes to carry Trump, eh?
