The people who voted for Donald Trump for President where looking for a President to shake things up….
He’s done THAT….
They where looking for someone to give a voice to white poor Americans who feel left behind with a country that has become less white…
They voted for a guy who ‘Stand Up’ for America against their own companies hiring of cheap labor….
They wanted someone who would make those darker people stop working in their stores and moving into their neighborhoods…
They wanted someone who appeared ‘Strong’….
They wanted someone who wasn’t black, brown or yellow…
All these things they HAVE gotten….
They do NOT care if who they have is trying to get bed with the Russian President…
They are will ing to give up old traditional Right -Wing Conservatives….
Donald Trump HAS gotten it right for around 40% of America….
And they come out and vote….
Ask Trump adopted lawmakers in his party….
They’re scared shitless of him….
They seem to be waiting to see how far he can go before he self implodes….
And He will eventually…
But it might be a long wait…..

Funny thing.
I was on here Saturday afternoon on catching it from CG and James.
Bored by being blasted by the “usual suspects” I invited the “hundreds” to join in.You would have thought that I would have offended at least one of them.
Alas, no one took me up on my offer.Accordingly, using the type of flimsy “evidence” often used here to make all sorts of irrelevant to much of anything “points,”I hereby declare that the “hundreds actually agree with me.(thus their refusal to join in the general bashing, then again, perhaps ,like me ,they just don’t see the “greys” as our two friends remind us ,they do)!
CG, James and any others who may seek to contradict me?
Eat your hearts out suckas! The “hundreds” stand with me!
Zreebs says
Yeah – I did see your discussion with CG. Anyone who always votes the party line (as CG does) will be voting for some absolutely terrible candidates. And for state and local positions, it is far more important to have someone who is at least intelligent – and yes, there are some intelligent people in the GOP. How one stands on abortion, national defense or gun violence is totally irrelevant for almost all state and local positions.
It was amusing to see CG trying to “out” you for voting for a Republican when you volunteered that information in the first place. I just don’t understand Republicans. Maybe in that sense I deserve the “Clueless Zreebs” name that CG gave me. Perhaps one of the hundreds of people who visit this site can clue me in.

Former Congressman Ronald V. Dellums (D-Oakland & Berkeley, Calif.) has died at the age of 82. He was also a Marine veteran, a former Berkeley City Councilman and a former Mayor of Oakland.
*****************
Ron Dellums, former congressman and Oakland mayor, dies at age 82
By Rachel Swan
The San Francisco Chronicle
Updated 10:59 am PDT, Monday, July 30, 2018
Ron Dellums, a Marine turned antiwar activist and feisty Democratic politician, was never one to walk away from a fight, no matter who started it.
Dellums, who died Monday at the age of 82, made that clear during his first run for Congress in 1970, when Republican Vice President Spiro Agnew, speaking for President Richard Nixon’s White House, pointedly branded the young Berkeley councilman as “an out and out radical” who needed to be “purged from the body politic” for his stance against the war in Vietnam and up-front fight against social ills.
The attack, like many others to come during his decades on the political battlefield, never fazed him.
“If it’s radical to oppose the insanity and cruelty of the Vietnam War, if it’s radical to oppose racism and sexism and all other forms of oppression, if it’s radical to want to alleviate poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, and other forms of human misery, then I’m proud to be called a radical,” he told a scrum of reporters at his campaign headquarters….

James,
Predicting the fiture is really, really hard, but it is would be worthwhile to look at some trends. 55% of millennials say they support socialism, and there are some long term trends that are not going away, For example, a larger share of both income and wealth are going to the super-wealthy. That is especially true under Trump, but it was also true under Obama and Clinton, and this is coming at a time when corporations are eliminating or more likely have already eliminated pension plans. And despite what you preach, almost all of the energy of the Democratic Party is with progressives, and it has been moving in the direction since around the turn of the century. Perhaps you missed what Chairman Perez said…

If you run the 1-minute YouTube clip at the bottom of that Washington Examiner article, you’ll hear Tom Perez (at about 1:00) say, “I have great respect for Joe Crowley; Joe Crowley’s a good Democrat, he was one of the sponsors of the Medicare-for-all bill, he’s fought the good fight.”
But we know James’s opinion of Medicare for All.
By the way, The Washington Examiner was set up as a conservative alternative to The Washington Post, so if its editors had a political or policy aim in running that story, it wasn’t to praise socialism, but to show that the Democratic Party has gone so far left that it’s (horrors!), socialist.

Trump is calling the Koch Brothers Network a “total joke” for refusing to back the Republican nominee in the North Dakota Senate race.
I’m trying to figure how that jives with Trump bring s “secret Democrat” or that he “basically endorsed Democrat Heidi Heitkamp in that race.
Both theories CG has floated in the past
CG says
Trump going after the Koch Brothers and calling them “globalists” and greedy is definitely something a Democrat would do. He sounds like Harry Reid. Or he’s just being Donald Trump, i.e. out for himself and not really a Republican. In any event, this is not going to help Republicans, so Democrats should be happy.
scott says
Uh, he’s going after the Kochs for being insufficiently Republican.
He thinks they should support the GOP in wach and every race.
But keep going down upur foolish rabbit hole with your “secret Democrat” routine.
CG says
He called them “globalists.” That’s hardly a traditional Republican talking point.
On trade, Heitkamp’s position may be more in line with traditional Republican policy than that being taken by Cramer.
Just embrace the fact, as a Democrat, that the “Republican” POTUS has so fundamentally changed the Republican Party. Don’t take the frustration into losing so many elections into being something that it isn’t.
scott says
Yes Trump has changed the Republican Party and he is now seen as more Republican than Ronald Reagan.
You may not like the destination but you all started down this road with people like Rush Limbaugh and later Sarah Palin.
The directions were pretty clear. And don’t expect them to turn the car around any time soon.

Donald Trump’s campaign might still be under investigation over alleged collusion with Russia; his former campaign chairman might be up in court; but as far as his many overjoyed supporters are concerned, the president is doing a fantastic job.
At a Trump rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, this week the overriding emotion was jubilation. As they see it, Trump is cutting their taxes. He’s keeping out the immigrants. He’s putting foreign leaders in their place, all while fulfilling that oft-quoted campaign promise: winning.
“A-plus,” was the verdict of Suzie DeFranco. “A-plus-plus.”

Any surprise?
The idea that Trumps supporters are going to desert him because of demeaning remarks by “”libruls”( being so defined as anyone they disagree with, party notwithstanding. In SC many Republicans often refer to conservative Republican Lindsay Graham by this designation) or negative news stories by the hated media?
That’s why I place little faith is these ,fruitless in my view, efforts by Democrats to “convert” his followers,no matter what party they claim to adhere to.
Far better to concentrate on increasing turnout by minorities and younger voters.
Keith says
I agree Jack, and I would take this a whole lot farther.
Last night I heard a great conversation on Bill Maher (referenced here on the board) with Steve Schmidt and others about where all this hate came from in our political discourse.
Schmidt has already said that he will be voting for Democrats until the Republican Party gets its act together. A pretty amazing statement for the man who gave us Palin.
But, at the risk of repeating what I have been saying for years now, the Republican Party has been moving in this direction for years.
Moving to an aging, almost all white, party that breeds racism and conspiracy theories.
There isn’t any light between where Trump and the Congressional Republicans are on the issues. They enable him and if you oppose Trump, you are morally required to oppose the Republicans running for Federal office this November.
I know I will, I would hope all patriotic Americans will do the same.

…While Collins has easily been re-elected to the 27th District, he won his first race in 2012 against Democratic Rep. Kathy Hochul — now New York’s lieutenant governor — by only 2 points.
Both Andres and Livingston County GOP Chairman John Pauer said they had been fielding calls throughout Saturday morning from candidates interested in running.
They also both noted that it was still unclear how Collins would get off the ballot.
The three avenues to remove a name from the ballot are: if the candidate dies; does not meet the basic requirements for candidacy like minimum age and residency in the state; or runs for another office and declines the nomination for the first office that candidate was seeking, according to a spokesman for the state Board of Elections
Andres was confident that Collins would take steps to remove himself from the race. In that instance, the eight county chairs would pick a nominee.
But until then, Republicans are still trying to figure out what happens next….
