Republican House moderates get close…..
But cannot get to the 218 votes they need to go around House GOP Speaker Ryan…
Ryan has tried to keep everyone happy….So there will be a vote….
They are still negotiating what the final bill will look like….
UPDATE
House Republicans will vote next week on two immigration bills to address the plight of Dreamers who face possible deportation, Speaker Paul Ryan’s office announced late Tuesday. The floor votes will effectively stop an immigration discharge petition being advocated by moderate Republicans and Democrats. Moderates do not appear to have the 218 signatures needed to circumvent leadership and force a vote on their own bipartisan bills.
One of the proposals the House will take up is a conservative measure drafted by Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.). The other is a compromise package still being assembled by Ryan and other party leaders in consultation with moderates and conservative Republicans.

The group of two-dozen Republicans from swing districts — who for weeks threatened to join with Democrats to codify the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Program — offered to include enhanced enforcement measures in legislation in order to secure an agreement. Conservatives are demanding added enforcement as part of any deal that includes pathway to citizenship for young undocumented immigrants who came here as children….

This morning Trump declared he would NOT sign any Immigration bill that was being worked on….

We NOW have Donald Trump AGREEING to go along with a bill if it can make it to his desk….
Ya can’t make this shit up….
Update….
“The White House said Friday that President Trump supports House legislation that closely tracks his priorities on border security and limiting legal immigration, walking back comments he made on national television rejecting the GOP bill,” the Washington Post reports.
“The reversal came after hours of confusion on Capitol Hill, where Trump’s words roiled an already fragile internal debate between conservative and moderate Republicans in the House who have beeen trying to find an immigration compromise after months of false starts.”
