Spread across the media these days are pictures of ICE cops with guns in raid gear and little kids….
Not in the media spotlight are those special agents/investgators that have the mission of going after national security threats, child pornography, serious criminality and transnational crime.
There job has gotten more difficult as their initials become a dirty word across the country….
Those investigators have pointed out their problems to their parent agency heads in Homeland Security agancy.
Already?
Homeland Security’s Custom Border Patrol arm has disregarded the Justice Department’s order for a zero-torrence border policy….
The agents’ letter is rooted in longstanding tensions between the investigative and deportation divisions within ICE.
The child of a forced marriage between two defunct federal agencies — The United States Customs Service and the Immigration and Naturalization Service — ICE has long struggled to balance its dual roles of transnational criminal investigations and deportations.
Some agents in the investigations unit have said the Trump administration has prioritized ICE’s deportations mission. Thomas D. Homan, the acting director of ICE and former leader of its deportation unit, has been a vocal proponent of the administration’s immigration policies.
The more than 6,000 special agents assigned to Homeland Security Investigations focus on money laundering, drug trafficking, human smuggling, child exploitation and cybercrimes. The agents have been involved in some of the highest-profile criminal investigations in recent years, including the takedown of the Silk Road website, an online market where illegal drugs and fake identifications were sold.
The agency was also involved in the arrest and capture of drug lord Joaquín Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo, who led the Sinaloa cartel before he was extradited to the United States last year…..
Note….
The Homeland Security Agency is the newest and 3rd largest cabinet agency …The Morale in the put together agency is among the worst in the federal government….More…

Please read this post on Homeland Z and CG…
The problem isn’t as simple as Gillibrand and others think….
The DHS isa HUGE put together catch all agency….
It is fighting within itself….
The Trump political marching orders has disrupted how the place works….
As I point out?
It’s leadership has decided NOT to follow guidelines from the DOJ….
The deportation focus IS the problem…
The over enthusiasm to produce bodies IS the problem….
This IS a POLITICAL problem…
Change President’s ….
That IS the solution…
That since we KNOW Congress ain’t gonna do shit about the issues even though they COULD
To get RID of the agency is just plain political pandering and stupid…..

…..The Trump administration’s “zero-tolerance” policy of criminally charging people who cross the border illegally led to thousands of children being separated from their parents.
But the practice of separating families appears to have begun accelerating last year, long before zero tolerance was announced in the spring. Among these cases, according to records and interviews, are many that happened at ports of entry.
Administration officials have said repeatedly that asylum seekers who don’t want to be separated from their children should present themselves at a port of entry. Doing so is the legal way to ask for asylum, they said.
But court filings describe numerous cases in recent months in which families were separated after presenting themselves at a port of entry to ask for asylum….

‘Even the cops don’t like us anymore’: Under Trump, ICE is despised and divided
Being an ICE agent has always come with challenges. The agency has faced criticism for years from immigration activists, including during the uptick in immigration enforcement during the Obama administration.
But Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration has made ICE much more of a target. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf won praise from many of her constituents and criticism from the White House earlier this year when she alerted her city to upcoming ICE raids.
Many California police departments have longstanding policies against working with ICE to arrest suspects on immigration charges. But since Trump took office, California has enacted even tougher “sanctuary state” policies limiting cooperation with federal immigration officials even more, and that has heightened the strains….
