Probably NOT….
Both Senator Corker and Flake have crossed paths with Trump since the 2016 election….
With aren’t running for office again and when push comes to shove?
Both cop-out and support Trump….
Trump escalation of Tariff ‘s are causing worry in some places in America, even though places like China actually do have protectionist economic policies ….
“On something like tariffs, for example, the Senate ought to bring legislation to the floor that says, ‘Hey, we’re going push back here.’… Canada, Mexico are not national security threats,” Flake added on ABC. “The European Union exporting cars to the U.S. does not represent a national security threat, and we ought to push back. And if we don’t, why are we there?”
Trump’s tariffs on allies in the European Union, Canada and Mexico have generated sharp criticism from some Republicans, who warn they will hamstring the nation’s humming economy and cost Americans jobs. Trump on Friday further threatened to escalate a trade war with Europe by imposing a 20 percent tariff on all U.S. imports of European Union-assembled cars.
GOP leaders in Congress, however, have so far resisted directly challenging Trump on trade, worrying that a messy intraparty clash would prove to be damaging ahead of the crucial November midterm elections.
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) has introduced a bill with Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) aiming to limit the president’s authority under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 to levy tariffs based on “national security grounds” ― a provision Trump has invoked several times. They argue he has abused the law, and that Congress should get a say in the matter.
In a separate interview on Sunday, Corker said Trump may face a “jailbreak” in Congress over tariffs ― suggesting that he too was willing to force the issue.
“There’s not a person at the White House that can articulate why they are doing this,” Corker said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”….

Another Republican Senator ‘says’ he will fight against Trump’s tariff’s….
Hmmmm?
….Reelected to a six-year term in 2016 alongside Trump, the conservative Pennsylvania senator has emerged as Trump’s sharpest antagonist on trade policy — pushing legislation with Corker to take back Congress’ power over trade deals and straining to defend NAFTA from the erratic president.
Toomey’s eagerness to engage in a battle that’s dividing the Republican Party has drawn regular phone calls from Trump and invitations to the White House, where the senator and the president have politely, but pointedly, disagreed about Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs on U.S. allies and his threats to go further. And even if somehow Trump can be persuaded to exclude Mexico, Canada and Europe from the tariffs, Toomey says he will not give up on returning trade authority to Congress.
“We’ve crossed the Rubicon,” Toomey said in an interview. “It’s going to do and is already doing real damage, so I think we’ve got a responsibility to stand up and push back.”
Toomey is a savvy politician, refusing to reveal his support for Trump until the polls closed on Election Day in 2016. But whether Toomey can persuade his colleagues — including many who privately agree with him — to actually stand up to the president is another matter entirely…..

Remember that Pat Toomey (from my own state of Rhode Island, like Mike Flynn and Seán Spicer) was, and may still be, a big figure in the Club for Growth, which hardly smiles on tariffs.

I don’t understand. Why is the Texan referring to himself as suckindix? A few people on this site didn’t Like it when he called himself “conservatuve Democrit”, but suckindix seems to be an even more controversial name for the Texan. James should work with suckindix to choose a different name that is more acceptable. Otherwise he shouldn’t Allow suckindix to post.
