About Last Night:
State Sen. Debbie Lesko (R) beat Hiral Tipirneni (D) in the special election for AZ-08, but the margin was less than encouraging for Team R (Trump continues to drag down the Republican Party). That margin may change slightly today as results trickle in. In New York, Republicans held several Assembly districts, lost one, and gained one (except that the winning Republican has promised to caucus with the Democrats).
Now it is time for today’s roundup:
Presidential/National
Trump-Marcon: Two men of wildly different styles, but quite similar politics, are meeting in Washington to discuss the world’s issues. President Donald Trump (R-Himself) and French President Emmanuel Macron (LaREM-Himself) are meeting in Washington leading to a State Dinner honoring the French President whose weirdly enough been more of an ally for Trump than originally suspected.
Trump-Kim: Speaking of weirdness, President Trump showed yet again his love for autocrats and his inability to stop issuing a diarrhea of praise when he does not know what else to say. Instead of calling the Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong Un (Juche) a “maniac” and “rocketman”, all things that are correct, Trump is now calling the third generation madman “very honorable”. Senator Jeff Flake (R-Illegal Immigration) had a moment of sanity today when he expressed the collective amazement and awe at Trump’s fond comments towards one of the world’s most ruthless dictators.
Trump-West: Moving on to slightly less odd friendships, rapper and potential 2020 presidential candidate Kanye West (Himself) expressed love for Donald Trump in a recent interview. Kayne is apparently still mad at former President Obama calling West a “jackass” after West rained on Taylor Swift’s parade. Of the three Trump friendships featured today, this is the least unusual….
