Somehow?
The NYTimes has obtained and posted the questions Special Counsel (Prosocutor) wants to question Donald Trump….
The questions could now be changed…
(Trump’s people actually did the questions leaked based on Mueller’s detailed arae’s of concern’s)
But their area’s actually are not a surprising…
They still seem to indicate that Trump’s lawyers are NOT gonna advise him to answer them…We’ll see if he continues to follow their advice….We’ll also see how far Mueller is going to push to get Trump to sit-down and talk….
Special counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly assembled a list of close to 50 questions he wants to ask President Trump as part of his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
The New York Times reported Monday that it obtained a list of the questions, which include inquiries related to Trump’s business dealings, his relationship with Russia, and his communications with ex-staffers who have since been caught up in the probe.
The questions provide a window into what Mueller is interested in learning from Trump as the special counsel’s probe nears the one-year mark.
A handful of the questions focus on communications between Trump or his campaign staffers and Russia.
Mueller prepared to ask Trump about the well-known meeting at Trump Tower that involved his son and a Russian lawyer, as well as whether the president himself discussed sanctions on Russia or meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the campaign, the Times reported.
In addition, Mueller reportedly planned to ask “What knowledge did you have of any outreach by your campaign, including by Paul Manafort, to Russia about potential assistance to the campaign?”…..
Updates…
BTW?….
This Dog feel’s that in the end?
Trump will be forced to do a Q & Awith Mueller’s people no matter how much Trump’s lawyers do NOT want him to ….
Trump seems to feel he can bull shit the Feds and that with the sitdown over the case would over….
…
Chris Cillizza, @ CNN , who isn’t a lawyer goes further on what Trump might be missing on this….
…Trump, via Twitter, immediately seized on the fact that the focus of Mueller’s investigation didn’t appear to be on his campaign colluding with the Russians.
My Name Is Jack says
There is no way Trumps lawyers are going to let him answer these questions under oath.
jamesb says
But Trump says he wants to…..
I think he figures he can bullshit the Feds and have things over after the Q&A….
Oh, and ‘let him’?
There are few people who can actually stop this knucklehead from doing what he wants….
It’s his trademark in office…
It HAS BEEN the way he fucks things up for himself….
Actually?
I’d bet Mueller & Co. are silently counting on his ego to get the best of him….
Jack?
You and I know Mueller’s people KNOW the answers to each of these questions…
Trump again thinks he can freelance his way on them….
If he doesn’t bite?
Mueller could subpoena him….
My bet is the courts would support him having to show up….
In the end?
Trump IS probably right….
He’s gonna have to go in sit-down and do the Q&A….
They can fight it…
But my feeling is they will lose and Trump wants to get this over….
jamesb says
On second thought?
Here’s something ….
Rudy shows up a week ago….
Goes straight in to talk to Mueller….
Says his client doesn’t want to do the Q&A ….
Muller tells him he’s gonna have to?
Next week the questions leak for the public and DONALD TRUMP to see….
Various rightwingnut people are gonna start giving answers to the questions, eh?
What if the leak is actually aimed AT Trump who has a .10 sec concentration span?
My Name Is Jack says
I don’t believe Trump “wants to get this over with” badly enough to endanger himself or his presidency.
Yeah Mueller can subpoena him and Trump could fight the subpoena. He would probably lose, eventually, but it could drag on for a long time. Then he could refuse to testify. What would happen then?I don’t think any Judge wants to find the President Of the United States in contempt ,the remedy for a refusal to testify.Or can he even be so held?A lot of this could rapidly descend into unchartered waters.
My best guess ,and it’s only that ,is that some scenario will be worked out, likely involving Trump answering some prearranged questions with his lawyers orchestrating his answers as best they can.He may even take the fifth on some.
jamesb says
You might be right….
But that solution would be useless….
Mueller and Rosenstein SHOULD push it…
Remember all this will probably play out AFTER the midterms when Democrats will be back
And Trump HAS said he wants this done on the regular…..
My Name Is Jack says
Your certainty that Democrats will be “back” needs to be tempered.
I believe that that the Democrats will likely make gains but all this “blue wave” stuff is nothing but speculative cheerleading.Indeed, few analysts are predicting that which you talk about as a “done deal.”
Far from it as a matter of fact.Harry Enten today pegged the odds of a Democratic House takeover at 50/50.That is about Right I would say.
Predicting anything which may happen to Trump on the certainty of a Democratic House is nothing but speculation at this point and such statements as,
“…after the midterms when the Democrats will be back.”(implicitly assuming a Democratic takeover of Congress later this year) is more hope than reality at this point.
CG says
He also claimed repeatedly in 2010 that he was certain that Republicans would not flip the House.
jamesb says
There is SEVERAL indications that the Blue Wave will materialize ….
Sure Democrats shoukdn’t Try to glide thru like the predicted Clinton win that came in the popular vote but not in the electoral college….
But again?
It’s foot prints ARE PRESENT….
Since the Trump surprise of 2016?
Pundits are advised to write counter pieces to make sure they cover all the bases….
Hillary Clinton WON the popular vote
The basic was there
Just as the basic is here where there is no electoral college to deal with….
CG says
What is the definition of “wave?”
Statistically speaking, in regards to midterms, Democrats should win the House.
If they net some seats but fail to win the House, are you going to call it a “wave?” I remember, you were “happy” when Democrats got clobbered in the midterms under Obama, after insisting they would be just fine.
CG says
Even with Hillary winning the popular vote in 2016, the Republican Presidential nominee won the popular vote in far more of the 435 Congressional districts than she did and the competitive Senate races are disproportionately in red states as well.
So, in order to do well in 2018, Democrats will have to do far, far better than they did in 2016.
jamesb says
Several legal talking heads are shopping around obstruction justice charges in the media…
While Trump thinks he’s out of the woods?
He isn’t….
One thing?
Even with Rudy on board?
No voluntary interview?
This goes on for at least another year
jamesb says
Drip….Drip…DRIP
