It was reported that House GOP Whip Rep Scalise wasn’t gonna fight House GOP Majoruty leader McCarthy for House GOP Speaker Pyan’s spot since Ryan isn’t running for reelection….
That was yesterday….
Seems that IF by some mircle the Republicans where not knocked out their majority by a Democratic wave?
There could be a fight brewing…..
The House Conservitive Freedom Caucus leader has made it know he’s interested in running for Speaker if the job is available….There could actually be more…
House Republican leaders made moves Thursday to give the appearance that there won’t be any infighting about who should replace retiring Speaker Paul D. Ryan as head of the conference. Don’t be fooled.
The race to replace Ryan is not over — unless Republicans lose the majority in November. In that scenario, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy would have the insider track to being elected minority leader since it would only require a simple majority vote of the GOP conference.
But if Republicans hold onto the majority, there will be a speaker’s election on the floor that requires a majority of House member votes. And McCarthy has yet to win over conservatives who have opposed his ascension in the past. Not to mention there will be several freshmen members who will also get a vote…..

A day after his retirement announcement, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Wednesday signaled support for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy(R-Calif.) as his successor.
Ryan did so by saying that he was pleased that Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) had endorsed McCarthy to succeed him….
But I’m probably Not….
“The Freedom Caucus is prepared to exact a price from Kevin McCarthy if he wants to be the next speaker of the House — three years after foiling his first bid for the job,” Politico reports.
“A survey of about 20 of the conservative group’s three dozen members found varying degrees of openness to the California Republican known as a deal-making pragmatist. But nearly all the hard-liners said he’ll have to make concessions to win their support. Without it, they could block his path to the speakership.”
