Protest Marches are good…Votting is Better in America…

Repubulicans have sat back and watched the media run the angst from the students in Parkland , Florida…

It’s been a month…

The story HAS legs…

Yesterday there where matches of tens of thousands in support of the student’s anger and push for stornger gun control…..

Yet?

In the spending bill just pasted before Congress left town?

There only money form some background check support…No NEW policy….Just support for  agencies to increase their reporting within the present system….

We have new polls that say 95% of Americans want something done…

Except for Florida’s small effort ?

AGAIN….

The NRA point of view prevails….

Democrats where seen marching yesterday with the protestors….

But they dare NOT push gun ciontrol to the top of their agenda for the midterms 7 months away….

WHY?

Because protests aren’t VOTES…

I have said repeatily….

Gun Control IS a a toxic subject for Democrats….

And YES…The 5% of those who support having their guns OUTWEIGH the 95% of Americans looking to limit their availablity….

That will NOT cahnge until Democrats gain majorities in the Congress while having a President in the White House….

Democrats will ahve to bide their time getting those majorities and that office before they can help the 95% of Americans that want change…They can only do so by the VOTER’s…

The President’s approval rating over February and March of 2018 are the highest they’ve been in a very long time. In no month in the second half of 2017 did his approval rating ever top 40% for a month. He’s now done it for two consecutive months (including February, during which the massacre at Parkland occurred).
Contrast that to other monumental moments in this administration: Trump saw his ratings dip by three or four points on average after he fired FBI Director James Comey and during the debate over the unpopular Republican health care bill.
Congressional Republicans too have seen no decline in their ratings. Although they still trail on the generic congressional ballot, an average of all surveys in March puts the Republican deficit at 8 percentage points. That’s the same as it was in February and in January. All of which are equal to the long-term average since the beginning of the Trump presidency. All of which are also better than where Republicans were in December when they trailed by 11 percentage points on the generic congressional ballot.
Just five years ago, when Congress didn’t enact stricter gun laws following the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, congressional Republicans similarly didn’t see their polling numbers take a hit and they went on to gain seats in the following year. Or go back 24 years ago, when Republicans might have actually been rewarded for mostly voting against the federal assault weapons ban that President Bill Clinton signed into law.
In fact, Trump and Republicans might be at bigger risk of losing support if they were to support stricter gun legislation. A majority of those who support Trump oppose stricter gun legislation, and the GOP base could abandon him and Republicans who stray from that position.
Democrats will certainly try in some races to use the lack of major gun legislation to attack Republicans in the fall campaigns. But it’s possible that the salience of the gun message won’t be as high in November as it was in the immediate aftermath of Parkland….

2014 midterms: Turnout: 20% Share of electorate: 10% Vote choice: D+11 🗳Result: R+5🗳
2018: T/o: 40% Share: 19% Vote: D+22 🗳Result: D+10🗳
If youth voters double their turnout (to avg) Dems win in a landslide

    The “insights” provided on this site by you are just so astounding that one wonders why you are lecturing the five or six people here

    (You have inadvertently conceded in all this changing to this new format that your “claims” to having thousands of followers here were,as RepubliCAN made clear several years ago were nothing more than “bots.”

      Yes, the issue was ‘bots’….

      (Can you imagine what their ‘bot’s’ numbers are like?)

      Just like any site out of service we lost followers…

      But day by day the numbers get better….

      I’m fine with the several hundred unique visits that increasing….

      And thank you for your support….

      If you check the ‘busy’ sites?

      You’ll find they too have regulars….

      And they also have cementers who come on to speak about unrelated subjects in a post….

      Oh, and their people get moderated also….

      • And by your own admission the site is still under attack from bots.

        Despite your protestations it should be plainly evident that almost all these “unique” visitors are “bots.”

        However ,if you wish to perpetuate this myth you’ve created,that there are hundreds of peolple lurking here everyday, have at it.Perhaps there are those here who agree with you?Odd, though, no one ever comes forward to articulate such.
