Scott Pruitt’s EPA hasn’t actually cut much of anything?

April 7, 2018 By jamesb 6 Comments

Politico is out with a piece that points to a EPA head that is all over the media in a unflatting way….

That has his bosses blessing because the rightwingnut’s think he’s doing a good job….

But isn’t…..

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s spiraling ethics scandals and perilous job status were big news this week, but he also made headlines with his latest assault on President Barack Obama’s environmental legacy. “Pruitt Announces Rollback of Obama-Era Auto Fuel Efficiency Rule,” ABC News reported. “EPA’s Pruitt Kills Obama’s Auto Rules,” the Washington Examiner put it. TheNew York Times analyzed how the furor over Pruitt’s behavior has overshadowed his triumphs over regulation: “For Scott Pruitt, a Spotlight Shines on His Ethics, Not His EPA Rollbacks.”

But Pruitt did not kill or roll back Obama’s strict fuel-efficiency standards; he merely announced his intention to launch a process that could eventually weaken them. In fact, Pruitt has not yet killed or rolled back any significant regulations that were in place when President Donald Trump took office. While Pruitt is often hailed (or attacked) as Trump’s most effective (or destructive) deregulatory warrior, the recent spotlight on his ethics—allegations of a sweetheart housing deal; pay raises for favored aides; lavish spending on travel, furniture and security; and retaliation against underlings who questioned him—has arguably overshadowed his lack of regulatory rollbacks during his first 15 months in Washington. The truth is that Scott Pruitt has done a lot less to dismantle the EPA than he—or his critics—would have you believe.

It’s not for lack of trying. Pruitt has taken aim at just about every major Obama-era EPA rule, which has made him a pariah on the left, a hero on the right and the bureaucratic face of Trump’s vocal advocacy for fossil-fuel interests and other industrial polluters. But so far he’s only managed to delay a few rules that hadn’t yet taken effect. His supporters, critics and boss have all promoted the perception that he’s repealed Obama’s environmental legacy and shredded America’s environmental rulebook—and no one has promoted that perception more energetically than Pruitt, who frequently sued Obama’s EPA when he was Oklahoma’s attorney general. Nevertheless, that perception is wrong….

The key statement is “…not for lack of trying.”

Pruitt is the epitome of an industry stooge. An ethically challenged Right Wing ideologue who seems paranoically obsessed with the idea that people are out to physically “get” him.

Truth is the ego maniac probably could walk down any major thoroughfare in the country and nobody would even know who the Hell he is.

Maybe the worst of Trumps many horrible appointments and that’s saying something.

While your statement about Russian President Putin is COREECT…

      You miss an important point…

      The Russian History….

Russia has ALWAYS had a worry about the constant forays of other countries into it….

From as far as history is on the books that has been an occurrence…

Putin and old KGB major certainly see’s the West as encircling his country and meddling it is affairs ….

      Instead of joining the club?

He seems to never have felt comfortable….

President Obama pointed out that Russia save for it’s oil production is a big country that is economically weak…

Hillary Clinton would have kept a thumb on that…

Donald Trump has knocked himself out trying to get bed with Putin who wisely knows he NEEDS to get around the American suspicion of him and goals….

Trump , to his displeasure , has been dragged over and over into confronting Putins efforts to recruit him into helping Russia get a foothold in America’s underbelly…

Of course Putin saying ‘nice’ things to Trump works….

But the American and Foreign Intel community keeps telling everyone else but Trump what seems to REALLY be going on

And THEY have become the fire wall to a President that seems to hell bent on giving away the store…

One hundred and seventy members of Congress signed a resolution calling for the resignation of EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt Wednesday afternoon.

A group of 131 representatives and 39 senators, all Democrats, enumerated the reasons they are calling for his ouster, ranging from his shrinking of EPA staff to delaying investigations of pollution violations….

Well Jack, I think folks will know who Pruitt is very soon. Of course one of the reasons for his first class travel bills is his fear of the common man sitting in coach. I loved that excuse.

The only reason the EPA hasn’t been more effective in helping to destroy our environment to this point is the fact that the incompetent Republican appointees at the Agency have so poorly drafted their regulations that they are being held up in court. Pruitt has simply been so busy living the high life to do his job.

I think he is still around because Trump still wants to replace Sessions with Pruitt. If that ever happens then the shit will hit the fan, but don’t expect the Republicans in Congress to turn on their Republican President.
